The fact that Arsenal are even rumoured to be looking at him shows how far he's come in such a short space of time. The boy scores goals - will be an improvement on what they've got if he can take it to just one more level. England awaits if he can no doubt.

At 23, so long as he can keep that shoulder in check, he's only going to get better as well. Good luck to him, was amazing for us when he was here and will hopefully go on to score goals at the top level and we can enjoy telling everyone that we gave him his 1st professional deal

Big risk for Arsenal to take.
Its hardly a risk at all, Austin has scored shed loads of goals at EVERY level he has played at, if you are a natural goal scorer you can do it at any level which Charlie will do. 74 goals in 132 games as a pro is damn brilliant IMO. Yes he left a sour taste in the mouth in the way he left us but that behind us now so good luck to him. The more transfer fee Burnley get the more we get. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2229479/Charlie-Austin-scoring-Cristiano-Ronaldo-Lionel-Messi.html

Well said, agree with all of that. Given service he'll get goals wherever he plays.

Bang on. My lad took considerable pleasure in tormenting his classmates earlier this week with the "Who's the top goalscorer across Europe right now?" question then casually saying he'd seen him score loads and saw him starting out. None of the Man Utd, Chelsea etc plastics could match that, nice little bit of point scoring for the local side!

Arsenal are a massive club. Its a gamble, one that can go well but one that could back fire. Would he start every game with their 'stars'?
It's a bit like Oxalain-Chamberlain really. If you are good enough you will play.
Maybe a club like Villa will suit him better?

Sunderland should put a bid in. They've had only something like 13 shots on target all season and scored 6 goals in 9 games, how they could do with a Charlie Austin up front.

Having watched Sunderland v Newcastle, Sunderland were poor and they are crying out for someone to link up with Fletcher up front! Charlie could be the answer!

Ask Liverpool about the perils of signing English players.
How on earth they could ever think Downing, Henderson and Carroll were worth forking out £70m for.
Austin could turn out to be one of those players that just seems to disappear into the ether when stepping up to a big club.
But as long as we get our cut of any transfer fee, who gives a flying one,

I reckon part of their problem was a lack of creativity in the midfield. They would have to invest in that area as well as on Charlie.

Can't ever see Austin at Arsenal. Not Wenger's sort of player at all.
I could see him at Sunderland, Newcastle (if Ba goes to Liverpool in January) or Liverpool (if Ba doesn't go to Liverpool in January), all of whom would stump up decent fees. I think he'd solve a lot of problems at Liverpool actually with their long-running goalscoring/ striker woes. He's well ahead of people like Adam Morgan and Fabio Borini who still somehow get into the first team, and they've got players who'd deliver the kind of balls he likes to get on the end of. I understand Newcastle have been watching him longest (they were scouting him when he was with us i remember) and have become canny in their transfer business in looking for players they can get a good price for then sell on later at inflated fees, and Austin could fit that billing.
Can't see any of the promoted teams (or Aston Villa as some have touted) having enough money for him in this inflated transfer market after Jordon Rhodes/ Jay Rodriquez etc. Any transfer fee should be matching the 7/8 million fees for those two as a bottom line if he doesn't get injured before January.
Wish someone could confirm what the sell on for him is. I am hoping for a million pay-day or similar.

In his interview the other evening Sir Will said fans expectations of the size about the sell fee should lowered. Implied it would likely be a few 100k's

Gary Madines loan move put on hold according to the BBC till next week. I'd imagine until after the court hearing.

Newcastle won't pay 5m + for him
There is 18 months left on his contract and he has got Burnley in reach of the playoffs. Given that promotion to the Premier League is worth £100m there is no way in hell that they will sell him on the cheap in January, provided they are still in with a chance. No way Burnley will sell him for less than £8m and they could easily hold out for more.
