If you use Rhodes, Rodriguez and Carroll as benchmarks I feel you are wrong.

Which is why a sensible club shouldnt pay that sort of money again for an unproven (at the top level) British striker.

£8m will get you more value if you shop abroad. £4m should be a more realistic price for Austin

I reckon part of their problem was a lack of creativity in the midfield.  They would have to invest in that area as well as on Charlie.

You're right FCB Sunderland need one of those as well, especially as they're hanging above the dropzone!

Any profit we can make on Charlie is great and I'm hoping on 400k+ at least

But thats all because of the UEFA home grown rule, inflating all English players values, and you only pay what the market value is, Arsenal for instance can not really afford to purchase any more foreign players.

Also I doubt you can get any striker with a similar strike rate to Austin anywhere in europe for less than £8million in the top couple of divisions of each league.

Shrewsbury have just signed Luke Rogers from Pompey on initial loan until January, then to sign contract in the new year to end of season.

A striker that has scored 39 goals in 17 years? I'm sure I'm being woooshed here. I'll twig it later?
