More than 8m? Nobody would pay that much. 4m tops
You can only use Rhodes/ Rodriquez/ Connor Wickham as a benchmark (championship/ young/ British), and if he carries on scoring the way he is and hits 30 by January, you'd have to add another 1/2 million on top of the 7/8 million those players commanded. 4m is way off the mark in the current market (would make Carroll worth 7 and a half times as much)! Although I'd agree that someone like Newcastle might try to turn his head then play hard-ball with Burnley around a bid of 5m+. Disappointing if Patey says it's only a few 100k, but all unbudgeted for bonuses will help out in January, if Di Canio has already blown the original season-long budget. Can anyone see any of our own players being under threat of being poached in January? This is probably the least worried I've ever been about losing players going into a transfer window (not sure if that's a good or bad thing). Ritchie's always mentioned, but don't think he's exactly at the peak of his powers and commanding the sort of fee we'd like for him at the moment. TBH, even though we've got one of the best squads we've assembled in years, I can't really pick any of our current crop of players who stand out as potentially commanding big transfer fees in the future. Anyone else?

Big risk for Arsenal to take.
Perhaps, but I think he'd fit right into their system and make a perfectly shit winger.

Theo Walcott cost Arsenal a total of £9.1 million (original fee was £12m but a compromise was agreed), and I am pretty sure he was in The Championship at the time, having scored 3-4 goals. What's a proven goalscorer worth?

£8m will get you more value if you shop abroad. £4m should be a more realistic price for Austin
It comes down to what Burnley will accept and what someone will pay. I'd imagine Burnley are doing ok financially (made £6m profit on transfers in the summer and still receiving parachute payments) so no dire need to sell to raise cash. If come January they're around the playoffs and he's still scoring for fun, they would be absolutely mad if they accepted anything less than £8m. Promotion is worth £100m. Making the Play Off final and losing is worth well over £2m. So why would £4m be a realistic fee for Burnley to accept?

Madine started for Wednesday tonight. Seems odd they'd loan someone out who was so close to the first team.

In his interview the other evening Sir Will said fans expectations of the size about the sell fee should lowered. Implied it would likely be a few 100k's
Really. I like tinned fish particularly the smoked mackrel fillets in sunflower oil that Lidl sell. I must, however, look for those red herrings. 10% will get us 600k on an 8 million transfer. I'd suggest that will be the absolute minimum. Mind you SWP is a skilled orator and you do have to read between the lines. We don't want to advertise we have suddenly become minted in January when we are on the look out for some additions to the squad do we?

Pisses me off all this undisclosed bollox.
Its all the secrecy that has fans wondering....just tell us what the clause is...and what of that will go to Poole.

I'd assume nothing for Poole, they would've got a slice of the Burnley fee only, not all future transfers. Or have I missed something from the hat wearing Ambassador?
