Let's put rivalry to one side. Saying they are bolloxed is a bit far fetched.Players like Constable,Leven and Duberry are on very good wages so investment has been available.

Oxford are bolloxed until they can get Kassam off their backs and own the stadium.
Forking out 500,000 each year before even thinking about the footballing side is a killer.
No club deserves to be bled dry by someone not even interested in the club.
But who is going to fork out £13m to pay off Kassam on top of investing in the playing side.
Kassam saved that club, no two ways about it...he was given an honorary degree at a local University as a thank you, for his services to the community. It wasn't under Kassam's reign that they went to the Conference, but the new owners. Kassam's big mistake on the playing side, which he clearly didn't know much about, was to listen to their idiot fans...so when Atkins had them going well in Div 4, they all complained about the style of football...so Paedo Rix was brought in, a man who was considered one of the top "football" coaches in England for his work at Chelsea. When that went tits up, he got in Ramon Diaz, widely regarded as a leading South American manager, who'd won a Copa Libertadores and 5 or 6 Argentine Championships with River Plate but the start of our season showed how difficult it can be for an overseas manager to bring in foreign players into Div 4. That prompted the move for Talbot, a safe pair of hands who'd previously won the Conference and Div 4 with R and D. When Kassam decided he'd had enough of the dog's abuse he was getting from the scummers, and sold the club, it was the new owners who took them back to the non league.

When I said Oxford are bolloxed I meant the Kassam situation will forever hold the club back.
The only reason he got involved in the first place was to get hold of the land the old Manor Ground was on. He pocketed the profits from that and continues to pocket 500,00pa in rent from the new stadium - hardly an attractive proposition for any potential investors.
Let's not kid ourselves, without the financial input by our present board I have no doubt we would be muddling about mid-table.
As much as they like to put a positive spin on their club being run on a sound financial footing the simple fact is that until they get substantial investment the best they can hope for is bouncing between L1 and L2. Now, that is enough for plenty of clubs who have never known any different, but for a club which has been in the 1st Div and won the League Cup, it's not good enough.

your last three games were big games ?
No they weren't. They've only had 2 big games in the last 10 years.

It must be galling to play at a ground named in honour of the man who is bleeding them, it would be like us playing previously at the Diamandis Dome....
Never understood why they don't change the name at least....

I am fully aware that he still owns the ground, but unless they are contractually bound to always refer to it thus I don't understand why they don't change it!

How can they change the name when they don't own it? Surely the name will be decided by the owner (Kazzam)
