'Michael Flynn on JMT:
He was with us and did well, I am prioritising what we needed and Clayton wasn't injured then. I liked him but he was offered a very good deal. I don't look at it as him choosing them over us as if we offered him a contract he would be here. We had other priorities.'
I find this statement a little odd. A quality Centre back was surely a huge priority. Sounds like we never offered anything.
I don't find it that odd. We'd probably offered him a squad wage. FGR offered him a first team wage. He was probably told he'd be competing with Clayton. FGR might have guaranteed him a starting spot. Loads of factors.

Honestly, it sounds a fucking depressing news conference. More of the same which has seen us nosedive last season.

'Michael Flynn on Hutton:
For me there is interest but he is someone I want to keep. He is under contract and unless someone hits our valuation then he will be here.'
Michael Flynn on his desired squad:
I usually work with 22 or 23, no more than 24. You always have two injuries at all times, whether that is long or short term. So 23 is an ideal number and hopefully no more than that.

It doesnt sound like we offered him a deal at all.

Not sure its odd at all, as was discussed on here he was basically an older version of Clayton and thus we would have ended up with 3 left footed CH's, yes its very different now Clayton is crook, but at the time it would have been a decent cut of the wage budget for a player who was not a 100% starter.

We know we need a CB, but a left sided ball playing CB wasn't the priority with Clayton and FBT. Which is fair and what a lot of people here said.

That's... small. We have two injuries already. Assuming that he might not actually include Dworzak, Fox and maybe Brann in that target, then we're on 17 right now. Would be another 5-7 then.

I would suspect one with a right foot. We know we need a CB, but a left sided ball playing CB wasn't the priority with Clayton and FBT. Which is fair and what a lot of people here said.
On a similar vein, if we are going to be a little more direct under Flynn than we have been recently, doesn't that rather discount one of the major criticisms of Ward

Then why bother with a trial at all? Unless we were doing it as a favour to keep him fit.

Correct that's how i see it, plenty more to come in. And that doesn't include that he wants to move on some.

It sounds like we are playing a waiting game with Ward. No idea what the contract situation is re him leaving Sutton but it sounds like we'll probably sign him, eventually!

Perhaps he wanted to compare him with our other two left footed CH's at close quarters? If we are just now getting players fit for other clubs in this division, perhaps its preparation for when we become a feeder club in the NL?

It depends how pieces/players fall into place i guess. If more business had been done, he had his right sided CB in etc, then maybe he looks at the budget and says yes lets get him in as well, but until he has filled the priority spaces and knows outstanding budgets he cant offer deals to others.

Bristol City loanees? If we are to fill the 5-7 spots with anything better than Dylan Kadji, presumably they’ll be players on their 2nd loan, but it hardly inspires… Dan Kemp would be great, an untested Bristol City youth, is not. They’re trying, we’re skint, we just want something to look forward to….
