He could have wanted to stay but wasn’t given a sufficient enough offer to do so?

Still under contract, so could have stayed till the end of the season if he wanted to, no?

He's only on a 1.5 year deal at Crawley so never say never!

That said, Sandro's spreadsheet has a formula =IF'AGE'>=28 then 'FALSE' else 'Flog to the highest bidder' so I doubt we'll be seeing him don the red of Swindon again.

He'll be back as player / manager at age 35. Play 3 games at sweeper trying to be Hoddle then abandon the sweeper system, play 343 with a conventional flat back line and never play again. A bit like Lou and Ossie. Flirted with playing but hardly bothered putting boots on.

Do you think we will have a replacement lined up? I imagine Gladwin may have been one of the bigger earners (if his contract was post embargo era)?
I think he has openly said he gets on well with Lindsey and that he has been involved in the coaching with him. I would imagine he has been given the same at Crawley and maybe a year longer too

Although I’ve just seen the pic of him in the Crawley shirt and he looks absolutely devastated

So I take it all back

I don’t know the ins and outs, but if Crawley have offered him a longer and better financial deal than we would be willing too, that could create a situation in which he wanted to stay but didnt

Conroy & Gladwin in a team managed by Lindsey. I really don’t envy Crawley fans, it’s going to be some of the slowest and dullest football going.

I think it's more he's aware of the club's direction of travel and realised his opportunities will be increasingly restricted here. He was brought in when our options were limited and we could barely scrape together a team, but doesn't really fit our model and, unlike Williams, isn't really delivering enough quality to justify that exception.

I'm expecting another youngish MR player in before the window closes now, two, or maybe one and a LB (Tomlinson?) if Ellis goes as well.

If the replacement, assuming that there will be one, is of similar quality and with more dynamism then that would trump the loss of experience & positive presence in the dressing room I guess.

All a tad strange though and worth a raised eyebrow, but not much more.

It’s probably if the players wants to leave and the club are being offered money, take it.

I know that logical reasoning doesn’t fit in with the anti Sandro agenda but so be it…

Who says anything about an anti sandro agenda, its just odd we talk about experienced players being needed around the young lads then we go and sell one that has been doing well for us.

Ok, he may be getting more money but he's only signed an 18 month deal with the so 1 more season, and chances are he would have been offered a new deal in the summer here.

But I suppose when a club accepts an offer it tells the player you are happy for them to leave.

Lets hope we get some adequate replacement and sign a few other bodies before 11pm Tuesday.

Its all about this really. We are light in midfield, and i think we needed more there anyway.

I'd just like something to get excited about from Jan, a crucial time to strengthen and push on. Austin was a nice boost but is very short term, losing Lindsey was a boost! But still being here with no manager and having lost both Reed and Gladwin it feels very meh to me.
