I think when measured next to the value of getting promoted, at c£1.5m - £2m. Even £150k for Doyle would be an absolute cracking piece of business. It is a gamble but an informed gamble. I think he’ll get offers we can’t compete with in the summer, just think it’s a compromise to get him in.
I would think partly correct. Consider this. He’s what 32? He is unlikely to play in the championship, not impossible but not likely IMHO. So that leaves div 1 or 2 as the more plausible. If he signed say a two and a half year deal with us and we didn’t go up.... on the other hand if he waits and we do, he gets another two Year contract in div 1. At his age he needs to max out his income potential as his legs ain’t gonna hold out much longer. You only have to look at Admiral to see who he would be competing with in the championship or Div 1 all be it he is with us only until May. |
