A FRUSTRATED Jon-Paul McGovern admits Town's dismal run of results is not good enough for a squad he insists should be challenging for promotion.
A comprehensive 2-0 defeat at high-flying Doncaster Rovers last night left Town with just three wins on their travels all season, and McGovern knows there are no excuses.
Despite being outplayed for the majority of the game, Town actually created the better chances, but that will do little to ease the pain of more away day woe.
Skipper Hasney Aljofree will miss the next two games after seeing red for a professional foul, as Brian Stock's resulting penalty and Sean McDaid's first-half opener leaves Town floundering just seven points from the League One drop zone.
McGovern said: "We have had the better chances but it is another bad result and at the end of the day it is a game of results.
"It is not good enough and with the squad we have got here, the position I think it is a case of getting this season out of the way and making sure we start better next time.
"The squad we have got here should definitely be up there challenging for the play-offs but the results tell the story and we are not."
Maurice Malpas was left questioning his side's mentality away from home but McGovern believes there are some positives for the long term.
He said: "I think performance-wise, especially the last 10 games, we have performed but we are not getting the results and we are not scoring the goals.
"I think if you came to the game you can see we are getting better, despite what the results say. Hopefully it is a good base for next season.
"We are trying our best for Swindon Town, it is our job and we have to do our best for Swindon Town. There are a few of us who can do better though."
No your not you useless cunt, you'll be fucking off in the summer anyway me thinks. 2 decent performances in 10 aint good enough im affraid.

Hopefully Sturrock will sign him for Plymouth, after all the rave reviews from the Dongs fans this is one player who has been a big let down since joining us....he talks a good game though.

he played well last saturday imo. But as others point out, he's far more miss than hit. I think if he had some decent competition he'd play better. If we want a strong squad next year, getting another right winger in and keeping him would be a good idea.

a player clearly playing without confidence.
played much better under Sturrock and is a Sturrock boy, but still think he's good enough and hope he regains some form.
Some of the shit he gets isnt deserved
Someone tell me, who would you play in the right wing instead?

That's not the point though really-I dont think anyone's saying we've got better players(although I'd pick a fit Roberts every time} just saying he's not really good enough on what he's shown us so far.To be fair though,I think Malpas played him in the centre last night-big error in my opinion.

He was crap under Sturrock imo.
It's not a case of people wanting him dropped at this moment in time DV, they want someone better brought in, which I think is fair enough.

Thing is, if for whatever reason we could get JPM playing like he can, we wouldnt need a another winger (well we would, but JPM is good enough)
Its not a case of he's shit and not good enough, its a case of his current form is shit and not good enough.
He's got more than enough in his locker, its just getting him to play to his potential.

I want a right winger in who can run with the ball comfortably and put in a tackle. At least if both players are off form they can offer something different to each other.
