.....that you have done.
Flying is all very well, but you can't beat a bit of boat.
I'm not looking so much for anecdotes, but sure we'll get some, but rather just the leaving and arriving places....which can sum up the nature of the thing.
I'll offer Scrabster to Stromness.

Portsmouth to Cherbourg was a good one... 5ish hours on a P&O offering that is usually used between England and Bilbao (so it was a lot bigger and nicer than your Dover to Calais type). Sunny crossing on relatively calm seas, and it was my first ever trip abroad. Good times...

What sort of scale Ferry you taking about though Reg?
Portsmouth to St Marlo (stag weekend). Dover to Calais x 5 (booze cruise) Dover to Cherbourg (school) Folkestone (?) to Ostend (for a laugh 'cause it was cheap). ---- Star Ferry, Hong Kong Island to/from Kowloon, Discovery Bay to/from Hong Kong Island --- Some small car ferry on the Great Ocean Road, near Melbourne, Aus. -- Staten Island Ferry (NYC) -- Alcatraz ferry (just visiting). -- Some boat over to sea to Skye (spead bonnily) -- Erm, the Dartmouth car Ferry.

Gourock to Hunter's Quay.
Stunning scenery, and it usually means we're towards the end of a very long journey. Welcome to Argyll. Only a short hop of 2 miles, but I love it.

Bang Pe to Koh Samet.
I done it many times, quite uneventful really but the scenery is postcard material.
I much prefer taking a speedboat though, sitting right at the front and trying to drink whiskey from the bottle is one of the best games ever...... FACT.
