studland is one of the best places in the UK: fact! The chain ferry is cool, then drive up and into the boozer overlooking the cliff. A regular jaunt for me in the summer. Greats walks, pubs and beaches.

Wellington to Picton - From New Zealand's north to south island. Not only was the scenery lovely with schools of dolphins following along but the boat was an old cross channeler - The Pride Of Cherborg. That must have been a hell of a journey down...

Seattle to Bainbridge Island, in the Puget Sound, was pretty spectacular.
I have in the past considered setting up a pirate ferry service across the Severn as an alternative to the bridge. I was going to buy the extremely looooong landing jetties from the now defunct Ile d'Oleron ferry and transport them to Blighty to deal with the mud flats. It was a stupid idea, but we would have flown the skull and crossbones.

Plymouth (I think, was only 16) to Santander. Force 9 for 24 hours. I was a bit sick.

Agree with the Manly-Circular Quay comments
Inland waterways in Kerala was a good day as well.

I have to say the best ferry journey i've ever been on was Dover-Calais for the World Cup game against Portugal in 2006. Great atmosphere.

I second that it's easily the best i've been on, followed by Alcatraz and opera house to Manly

Manly is very good too but Alcatraz was rather misty for me - which is so unusual in the Bay area of course.

I've only ever been on a ferry from Dover to Claais, although quite a few times.
The Hydrofoil from Portsmouth to IoW was quite good, although I'd imagine now I'm old enough, anything without a bar to amuse me would be a bit dull.
