I Like the fact that when I had my knee operation the surgeon who saw me at princess margarets was the same surgeon I saw 6 months after at the ridgeway.

Quite correct there DRS.  I waited over a year for my first hip op (six months to see the surgeon and then six months on his list to do it!) whilst a friend of mine had the same surgeon do the identical operation within four weeks of being referred.  The difference . . . . I was NHS whist he works for Honda who give their employees private medical insurance - I had mine at the GWH whilst my surgeon did his at the Ridgeway!!

I would guess he doesn't have exclusive rights to a theatre in any hospital so couldn't perform all day, day in, day out anyway. I suspect you'd find the hospital have to fit you in as opposed to the surgeon.

I was on a waiting list for major surgery a few years ago, and when it came to be my turn is was canceled in order to meet nhs waiting times by the surgeon performing quicker ops.

I was fucking livid so wrote the rudest letter you've ever read to Tony Bliar and several other unsuspecting people as well as the surgeon. I had my operation within a week or so. To be fair to the surgeon he phoned me and was very apologetic, and explained he had no choice. I'd like to think my diplomatic letter to the prime minister got me my operation, well actually i wouldn't because i hate the cunt, but it was infact a consultant i wrote too that got it sorted.
