Any of these would be very good appointments: Ling, Cotterill, Simpson, Newell, Hoddle.

I think Hoddle may come here because he isn't going to get another job in my opinion and he may fancy trying to turn us around, he might even lower his wage demands i don't know, it depends how much he wants to get back into management, i don't know if he would be any good now though.

Guys why are we bothered about new managers. We are days away from oblivion. A new manager should be the least on our minds

Lower his wage demands?!! He would have to cut them by about 80 %!!

I haven’t voted because there is no option for:

No point even considering who the next manager should be until the boardroom shambles has been resolved once and for all.

If the latest instalment in the car crash soap opera that is STFC has taught us anything, it is that attracting and retaining a half decent manager will only be possible when the goons currently running the show have gone.

When your house is about to subside, you shouldn’t waste time and energy worrying about the state of the décor.

We need Diamandis out.  We need Holt out.  We need Fitton in.  And not next week or the week after, or when issues have been resolved and minor paperwork dealt with.  We need all this to happen this week.

And then I’ll start thinking about who might be a good replacement for Sturrock.

i think the majority would like to see hoddle back but why would he want to come here when he can sit in a warm studio as a pundit?

there have been so many jobs that have come up since he last managed, i don't think he was waiting for this window of opportunity tbh

Who the hell voted for McGhee???  Why would anyone want that bloke in charge??

(He's managing in ther SPL so don't think he'd be interested anyway.)

I'm sure he still has ambition and would welcome the chance to manage at a higher level.  Cheesy

I wouldn't want the arsehole though.

To be honest if money were no object I'm still not sure if I'd want Hoddle back.  Now I've never been one for Judas chants or booing Hoddle when he returned, in fact I understand why he left us for Chelsea.

But do we really want him to come back, potentially do well, and then jump ship to join another club again.  For the love of God is there no managers like Dario Gradi about anymore, people who are looking to build a legacy.

Having said all that, I am with the people who suggest all this talk should stop until the takeover is finalised.  The last thing we want to happen is appoint some average manager on a 2 year deal only for Fitton to takeover and have to get rid of him, or worse still give him 6 months to prove himself.

Do you know I was only thinking earlier on today that Lingy has sort of become the new Dario Gradi.

He's been with the O's for 11 years now in one role or another. He's managed them for years, seems to be very secure in his backing from the chairman (who stuck with him through the first few years when results weren't great), and produces tidy attractive footbally sides.

He's just the sort of manager we could do with. A pity that a reverse of Catch 22 applies in this case. If he want's the job he's clearly mental and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the club.

would people be realistic regarding fucking hoddle! i'm pretty sure he gets more money sitting in front of camera talking bollocks about Champions League games and the like, than he would for managing us. Plus we're in the third tier, why would he?
