I put on two stone last year and have continually put on weight since I gave up exercise/sport.
If I stopped drinking for two weeks I can easily lose 1/2 a stone or more, but I like drinking and find this hard to do.
I hit the unbelieable heights with weight this year and have gone up to 18 stone, luckily I'm 6'3'' so it doesn't show too much until I take my clothes off, long time since I've seen my feet or anything else below the belt without sitting down.
Have promised to get down to 16 stone before I go to Greece this year, it is going to be very hard and I'm finding my weight very depressing at the moment.

1000 calories a day is ridiculous for a grown man.
Chubbs, aim for 2000 calories a day of good food. Plenty of meat, veg and fruit and cut down on carbs and sugar. It works believe me.

This is what I did Ralphy. After working in India last year for 3-4 months I put on a load of weight. For the last 6 months of the year I tried to eat more fruit and veg and also did a load of walking. I would usually go for a walk for about an hour a day and also did some swimming and football but not to a ridiculous level. Nowadays I tend to eat well and excercise Monday-Friday, avoiding alcohol and then treat myself at the weekend. Cutting out beer for a while was a great help as well. Most of it is down to will power. Good luck though Chubbs.

Do you eat fish? Very good for you and with some veg makes a very healthy meal.
I don't buy into these crash diets of cutting down to the calorie intake of a 5 year old child. As soon as you go back to a normal level of calories for an adult male you will put weight back on. Maybe even more than you started with.
Never skip breakfast either.

I need to lose quite a bit of weight, gone over 40 now and it stays on more easily.
I was ill over xmas and lost 11 pounds that way, not what i wanted but has helped me start my weight loss. I started properly last Sunday and have lost 1 lb in the first week just by eating healthier, couldn't do much exercise cause of the snow so quite happy with that. Just eat healthier and do some exercise and it should work.

1000 cals is easy to do, but it absolutely decimates your metabolism and it drops to almost nothing. Then when you start eating again, if you're not careful, the weight will go back on quicker than it ever has, simply because your metabolism is barely functioning. Simplest way to lose weight: Avoid shit food and alcohol Don't mix carbs and proteins within the same meal/day Don't eat carbs after 5pm Stay below 25grams of fat a day Drink water constantly - a pint or so an hour Always eat breakfast Don't over eat Don't eat within the 2 hours before going to sleep Never, ever get hungry
