Even though Hutchinson, 26, has been an Oxford player for three years, clubs are obliged to re-register players at the start of every campaign. United gained eleven points from matches in which he played before the problem came to light in November. In October Mansfield had four points docked for a similar offence. the league tables dont include our deduction, so with it we are 6 points off the playoffs. we have won our last 5 games, including a really good win away to crawley yesterday. we have played quite a few matches compared to some of the teams around us though. The second half saw many changes, a whole new lineup for United and many City changes including debuts for Lee Steele,Andy Caton And Michael Alexis. City drew level when a fine freekick from Mark Bell was met by the unmarked head of sub Andy Gunn, and 10 minutes later Michael Alexis scored the winner when he drove home from 20 yards after making space for himself. Bang on. Him and Lukas Jutkiewicz are the best young players Ive ever seen. With Caton it was injuries that did it. Showed a bad attitude when he was released by Swindon as well. Gave a poor interview saying that Sturrock hadnt given him a chance, he'd be back proving us all wrong in no time. I know he was dissapointed, but the club had done everything to keep him going, kept extending his contract month after month even though he had been injured for the vast majority of his time at Swindon. Although I was devastated the club sold Jutkiewicz, it just shows you have to take the cash. Its a tremendous risk the big clubs are taking (not that they care that much). I've seen Swindon play Oxford home and away on many occasions, and I always enjoy it when we beat them, but I always see the Bristol clubs as our main rivals basically because of the region I live in. I know that geographical distance accounts for many football rivalries, but there must be something more to this. Reading is a couple of miles closer to Oxford than Swindon is, for example, but who do Oxford see as their main rivals?....us. Does anybody really know why?

You're right that I only started watching more recently - 1990 as it happens. This is my 20th season, during which time I've seen many Oxford derbies, home and away. And I lived in Oxford for 4 years. I know what the rivalry is/was all about. But in a way, you're helping make my point for me. If you were old enough to be arrested in 1979 I'm guessing you're 50+ now. So in 10 years time you'll be in your 60s. Your generation will, I hope, still be there in numbers - but they won't be leading all the singing in the stands. In 2019, there will be 20 year old lads doing that...born in the late 1990s (around the time we last played them in the league). If we start progressing in the league, these lads will probably never have come up against a set of Oxford fans. But they will probably have encountered City and Reading on a number of occasions. A story about a petrol bombing 40 years earlier in the 1970s will mean little to them. So I'm sure that, individually, the Oxford hatred thing will live on for many of us here.
