Bollocks. We miss Heywood on the basis that Ifill wouldnt have to play if he were still here.  Jack Smith is as close we'll get to an almost exact Duke replacement

The only one we miss who left on a free is David Duke

I miss him and Helwletts constant lack of effort and endeavour, and I especially miss their ability to lose a 90/10 tackle in their favour.

I actually miss the dead ball delivery of Smith, and the defensive common sense of Heywood.

Depends, Heywood has his purposes, ie he was good in the air, but on the floor he was a shocking donkey. If we mix Heywood and Ifil together, we'd have a good centre half

We do miss Duke though, he was never a left back and its the managers fault for playing him out of position, but he was good going forward and created alot of chances for us.

In some ways I agree with you more now VD. Heywood wasnt that bad on the deck, yes he hoofed it but at least he looked up then hoofed it in the vague direction of a Swindon player. Ifill just kicks it as hard as possible in the direction hes facing. Even then it tends to fly off at a 45 dgree angle.

I think we'll all agree that a combination of Heywood and Ifill would be the bollocks in this division, and possibly highrer.

I also agree that duke would have looked a much better player on either wing than he did at left back. On the basis that King constantly played him at left back, and that Nicho seems to have remebered how to play football of late, we dont miss him.

The exit boys weren't world beaters, but the fact of the matter is we let a lot of players go and we are much worse now.

That can't all be down to SSP going can it, or did he carry us that much?

PS. Bet Igoe and Smith regret their moves from a football point of view if not financially.

I can't recall more than 5 Duke assists in his entire STFC career.

Yes, we'd be top 6 at the moment if we still had SSP.

There will be some facts somewhere that tell me you are wrong.

At one point 2 seasons back he was the top assister in the league.

I dont think I could ever hate a player as much as I hated Hewlett. Ifill is getting close though, the fucking retard.

I don't think we'd be top 6 with parkin but we probably wouldn't be in the relegation zone, maybe mid table.

I agree with batch that it was more so many players leaving at once than a couple of ones in particular.

Heywood was a solid enough defender. Igoe, Smith, Howard could all be quality on their day but shit the rest of the time but losing them all at once was a blow.
