And quite cheaty / cynical. In a tournament where the refs seem to have been told to not bother with yellow cards, to get 4 four of them is quite an achievement.
The refereeing has been a little odd, seems very lenient in many cases (which is not necessarily a bad thing) - has anyone been sent off yet?

It was difficult to tell as Belgium were absolutely woeful (I am not convinced if the players had actually ever met each other, let alone trained together) as they just were 11 players playing on their own, probably not helped by the fact that Hazard seems to have reverted back to early season Hazard and not the one who got a little form at season end!)
Italy were very organised and strong defensively (so typical Italy).....
That's what i am strugglng with. Everyone saying how well they were defensively yet Belgium still managed 6 shots on target not including the 3 sitters mssed by Origi & Lukaku. There were a few times De Bryne got in behind as well but could get the right ball across.

Russia receive a suspended disqualification and a 150k Euro fine for what happened in the stadium against England (flare, racism and fighting). Apparently UEFA can't do anything about what happens away from the ground.

I had realised that England were playing in Lille and then Saint-Étienne. So that's a game in the extreme south, a game in the north and then one in the centre all within roughly a week, they aren't making it easy for supporters are they?

Why would they? Apparently there could be a bottleneck for the next games as the Russian and English fans could potentially clash again in Lens/Lille according to the news. Dunno about the geography of either of those places but seemingly England fans have been instructed to stay in Lens which is where Russia are playing Slovakia.

Will be interesting to see how this develops as more trouble is inevitable. Think the Russians are a cert to have another pop at the English and there's bound to be fights with the Welsh too. Could England get thrown out of the tournament ?

Not if outside the stadiums. I think it may be a different ball game when the whole town is full of brits this tme. The whole organized bit is ott as well. Look at the end of that russians GoPro video they didn't seem to fucking keen on going down those steps once England fans had grouped together were they.

3,000 England fans were banned from even attending the tournament. Whilst Russia banned.. 30.
You've got to love that on it's own.

It just seems odd to have the fans traipsing across an enormous country for the sake of it (and it is huge, when my old man moved from Witney down to near Carcassonne people used to ask if they went to Paris much until he pointed out that Witney is actually nearer Paris than Carcassonne!) I think its the other way round, we play in Lens but have been suggested the fans stay in Lille as it has greater infrastructure, where handily Russia are playing, what could go wrong. The UEFA thing is a bit of a red herring as it only relates to trouble in the grounds and that's unlikely as we will not be meeting Russia again in a match situation?

we will not be meeting Russia again in a match situation? We won't. Turkey, Poland or Ukraine in the knockouts against Russia would however be both feasible and terrifying.

UEFA are not going to throw Russia out as it would make the World Cup awkward and UEFA and FIFA already have too much tied up in that commercially. They could throw us out, at least that would not mean losing on penalties so might be a satisfactory result?

Why would the Russians ban hooligans? The Deputy Chair of the Russian Parliament and a member of the board of the Russsian FA endorsed the attacks, the Sports Minister applauded the hooligans in the ground after the attacks, the head of their "Supporters' Union" (also employed by the aforementioned Deputy Chair of the Russsian parliament), a known Neo-Nazi hooligan, is part of their official delegation to the tournament.
