Just signed up for a work team building thing, a track 1/2 day
No breaks, fixed wheel, not ridden a racer/road bike for about 20 years. What could go wrong.

You will have an absolute blast.
What track are you going to?
I have ridden Calshot short track- very steep banking but, riding the top of the bank and then accelerating from the top to the apex of the turn to slingshot out is a real hoot.

Right TEF'ers, I fancy riding to either Bristol or Reading tomorrow, weather permitted (I know, fair weather cyclist!) I've found a couple of quietish routes. Does anyone know or recommend any better routes than these?
Bristol - Via Brinkworth, Malmesbury, Chpping Sodbury and south into Bristol
Reading - Via Ramsbury, Newbury, Thatcham and into Reading

It obviously depends a bit why you want to go Bristol....however doing the Bath Bristol cycle path has much to commend it. You could access that by using a chunk of the K and A tow path in from Bradford on Avon...variety of ways to get there, using mainly B roads. probably more miles though.

My motivation is that I have to the day off and need to build some mileage in advance of a long charity ride, so I thought either destination would be ideal to build mileage and see/visit somewhere different.

Right, my lad did that Bristol via Bath, Bradford etc, when he was in training for the end to end.....good for mileage rather than being the shortest route...

Pleasant ride to Bristol today, however I snapped my down tube not sure how though. I assume it's RIP to the frame?

aluminium butted main tubes and stays Absolutely no idea what happened, it was only when someone pointed it out to me that I realised. I could have been riding on it for miles.

Where is the break?
How old is the bike? Most manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty against materials/ build failure on alloy frames.
