I would also be interested as shortly moving to a house with a garage and got the OK from consultant to start riding again. Think need turbo to try and get some fitness back Before I risk the roads again. Any suggestions for a half decent sensibly priced turbo?
buy mine so I can get a better one Get one that is compatible with Zwift Good news about the sign off from the consultant - happy days.

Probably less than 200 quid. Bargains are always appreciated though :-)

Probably more than you want to spend but is Zwift compatible (other on line platforms are available). http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-vortex-smart-trainer/I've got a tacx satori which is very good but lack ability to interact with anything online.

You can get turbo trainers (occasionally) a lot cheaper from Germany: www.bike-discount.dewww.mantel.com

Oh classic reflection tactics is it now then Mr Coe...... Lord Coe accuses Nestle of hypocrisy over ending of IAAF deal - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/35553400

maybe, but he's got a point too. cycling has been the most drug riddled cheat sport for decades but they still get sponsored - it doesn't make much sense.

Has it been the most drug addled, or just the only one that was taking testing (semi) seriously a long time before the others, reading the athletics stuff it has been going on there (and at a much higher level state funded and sanctioned) for years and yet very few were popped. I think the levels of complicity in athletics will have scared the sponsors, plus for someone as politically motivated as Coe this really isn't going to help his ambitions. I would suggest having a read about Operacian Puerto, Dr Fuentes has always maintained that his involvement went way beyond cycling into football, tennis and athletics? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operaci%C3%B3n_Puerto_doping_case Not for a minute saying that cycling was clean, however it does seem to have been grasped by many other sports as an opportunity to deflect matters.

Right I know you lot like this sort of thing (virtual shopping).... I am moving out to the sticks up in Cumbria shortly and thus will be looking for a new bike in the next few months. Where we are moving to has pretty poor roads, but is also within 30 mins ride of the Grizedale Trail Centre with forest roads etc. I am therefore thinking of getting a cross bike to hack around the roads and forest roads, plus a second set of wheels with road tyres for general road stuff. I have found this https://www.merlincycles.com/merlin-x20-105-11-speed-alloy-cyclocross-bike-2015-75146.html however any other suggestions of cross or gravel bike. Rack fittings at least on rear would also be good as I have some wild ideas of audax or touring (health permitting!) Cheers!

any old dumb one will do horlock. they're terribly dull if you don't have zwift or a training plan, so it's best off not to spend hundreds if you're not gunna use it (ebay bargains can be had as a result of people not heeding this)

Which is exactly why I'd spend a little more and go fully interactive.

Spending a couple of sheckles a week for a regular spinning class can pay dividends.
I thought myself reasonably fit but have found myself on the verge of blacking out at the odd class.
Your fitness level increases and, as a bonus, if you work at it, your pedaling style smooth's out due to the spin bikes being fixed wheel.
