Ghana have just scraped through to the WC play offs. They are a 2-leg affair which take place in March.

Assuming JoJo is still with us next season he’ll be missing for a couple of months at the WC in Qatar if Ghana make it.

A real showcase event for him there. Should boost his valuation nicely.

They were a tad fortunate with the penalty decision  Smiley

Afcon squads supposedly join up on 27th December, so he'll miss most of the Christmas programme too. Final not until February 6th...

Good thing Ward looks pretty solid, isn't it?

I would think we will be in the market for another young keeper at this rate to at least sit on the bench, unless Mildy fancies it as he does in the PJT.

But we can't say what we've seen
And we're not little children
And we know what we want
And the future is certain
Give us time to work it out

Its a strange one, we put together a squad (not so much on the cheap but on the hoof) and suddenly have 5 internationals in it!

Both Grant and JJ (and the club) have a bit of a quandary, in Grants case at this stage of his career I can understand wanting to get some international football on his CV, but he seems to have lost his club place off the back of it. With JJ, whilst its great for him, will being the Ghanaian No.1 actually help his career prospects that much, will get him out to a bigger audience no doubt, but he will need to balance that against domestic commitments. What Lg1 or 2 teams are going to want a no.1 who misses loads of the season, likewise at L1-PL level same applies with a no.2.

Could be missing for another game or two more before then, too….

Can see Grant being let go in January.

Quote
Garner on Anthony Grant:

'For him the fact he went to red list countries and had to quarantine, and then the way he has gone away with Jamaica this time and he still hasn't trained with us yet is frustrating. We are paying a players wages and he has probably spent more time with his country in the last 2 or 3 months than he has with us.

"That has been a frustration but it is what it is. He wants to represent his country and we understand that, it's a great honour for him and his family and we just have to try and manage that process. The next international break isn't until March so we know we have these players until then and that can paint a different picture.

"I wouldn't say it's hard to manage the situation, it is what it is. The international call-ups take precedence and we have to release the players. We make the best of the situations and we always look at the solution and the best way to move forward. We don't dwell on negatives and we try to remain positive and aim to win as many matches as we possibly can."

I’d say JoJo is in exactly the same boat - even more so with African Cup of Nations coming up. Why pick on Grant? Just come out and say he’s not in my plans.

Grow a fucking pair.

Because Grant isn’t getting back in time to train before a game? Where as Jo Jo is.

All players that went away have trained at least twice this week, Grant still hasn’t been seen and it’s not the first time it’s happened.

Could be wrong but don't clubs get compensation from the national FA's to cover international call ups?

There's obviously a breadown in communications between player and club somewhere as teams in the top two divisions and many in leagues 1&2 would Potentially have the same issues.

Jamaica have been cramming in lots of Qualifiers, so he's probably involved in a lot of games over the period away plus travel - half the time to Jamaica but then also to five different American countries in the past two months.  The Covid issue is more severe than in African Nations, hence the quarantine requirement on at least one of the trips.  I imagine he is cream crackered when he returns.

Same again coming end of Jan and in March,, six qualifiers over two stints.  That region seems to have parked the Qualifying until after their regional tournament this year.  He will barely be around the remainder of the season.
