Surprised A.Grant wasn’t at least offered terms. The rest are no surprise. Shame there are so many under contract for next season.

The worst bit is that 5 or the 8 retained are defenders from arguably our worst ever defence. Who exactly thought it was a good idea to give people like Baudry & Grounds longer contracts?

Definitely go to decent championship club and mix with their better players
I feel Twine's allround midfield play has continued, post Wellens, to lack impact His back 'o the net howitzers apart. He has made some clever passes and he may have made more with better team-mates around him. He did not nearly compare to Matt Smith however with his passing and general involvement, imo. Imagine Matt Smith with Twine's shooting abilities. I think Twine does have that kind of potential still. Thanks to Newport he achieved a required increase in his confidence. Remarkably and to his immense credit, he maintained that in almost impossible circumstances at SN1. I don't think he is ready for the Championship and he has nothing left to prove now at L2 level. Playing with better players and better coaching in League One would, imo, be the best for him personally. I'm afraid Power and if not STFC need the money. Good luck to the lad.

Though Pork Pie was only a 1 season deal. According to Wiki, Grounds signed a 1 year deal on 17 September 2020. So his contract runs out not long after the new season starts.
Edit? Exactly the same for Pork Pie as Grounds.

I was sure Pitman and Grounds had 1 year deals. Very surprised that extensions have been triggered somehow, or contracts offered.
However i think under a better management i expect to see more from both, especially Grounds. Think how bad Baudry/Conroy have seemed this season, compared to how strong they were last, even taking into account the division difference.

A shame to see the general go, but he's 34 next month.
And Caddis, of course. Age even catches up with legends.
Those two have been massive. They deserved a special send off, not a generalised note thanking them for their efforts.

Ultimately no real decisions have been made here. Those out of contract are gone, those not are still here.
Age has caught up to some of them for sure, but people like Joel Grant and Hallam Hope, while not great are good league 2 players that if we had a manager in place may well have been retained.
The triggering thing on the list is that Curran still has 2 more years, fucking hell.

Really? I thought even if they signed an x-year deal in September it would expire end of July like other people’s. Only ever known short term contracts to end during the season.
