On the face of it, a club seemingly unwilling to meet the costs necessary for it to fulfill its fixtures is not going to last long in the League.  But there is almost certainly more to this than meets the eye.

There is, and I think it's a long-running argument between Scally and the police about level of resource required for big games. But by turning it into a conflict, in the way that Scally has a habit of doing with problems, he polarises opposition and everyone digs their heels in. If he could show evidence that the police over-estimated the resource required at games, he should present a proper case for private negotiation with them. But that doesn't appear to be the way he does things.

This will still go ahead, discussions are ongoing and I'm sure STFC will contribute to the extra old bill.

I think this is unparalleled in English football, a club choosing to play behind closed doors rather than being told to play behind closed doors.

It does bring up many other issues such as refunds for those season ticket holders who have already paid for their seats, as well as I am pretty sure the FA/FL will not take kindly to this as well.

It smacks of Mickey Mouse in the extreme.

The most read story on the BBC website right now.

That could be something to do with the slightly misleading highlights headline: "Match ban for all football fans".

This fixture is massive of course, but...

I suspect the 'specific intelligence concerning the match and its fans' translate to bugger all.  Or maybe its those nasty tshirts.  I blame the flash.

Is there an equivalent gills forum to this.  Be interesting to see what they think.

Their forum seems be to down. I wonder if they're feeling a bit embarrased.

I hope we don't pay a penny towards the policing costs.

I'm with you.  This is an issue for Gillingham and the local constabulary!

Certainly will not be contributing a penny to their policing costs.  Whatever next ........ Helping out Oxford for our next league meeting with them in 2022?
