On a side note, their kit for next years looks dreadful.

http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10416~2730033,00.html

There's so much wrong with this it's hilarious.

1) If you look the pics at the bottom of the article, I'm not sure they've thought through how away kits work. The general idea is they should avoid occasions where there would be a clash with your home colours...

2) Their "rivalry" with us can't be that big if their fans will be happy supporting a team in red next season.

3) Paul Scally: "we have reproduced the kit in an identical way to that of 1912/13, including the coat of arms badge and other detail of that time." Look at the kit and see if anything jars, from a strictly historical point of view.

4) Paul Scally: "for just £60 you can purchase both the home and away historic collector's shirt, a once-in-a-lifetime offer". Does this sound really attractive to anyone? How many people actually buy home and (unusable) away shirts in a season?

5) The badge is coming unstuck already.

Scally by name... Makes you grateful for the Watkins marketing machine at Swindon doesn't it.

I think there's still a chance it'll go ahead, with fans that is.

This will still go ahead, discussions are ongoing and I'm sure STFC will contribute to the extra bill.

Is this a bid for an alternative away shirt design? It has a certain something...

I am sure it will happen with both sets of fans there, but if they refuse
to pay the police bill could it be switched to the County Ground has there been any similar cases?

I'll give you that.  I'm sure the Flash is on the case as we speak.  (Ray McHale on one side, and everyone's favourite rodent on the other?)

No chance of that happening

Still think its 99% chance it will go ahead as normal, fans and all.

It probably won't help that the council/police have taken this public though.

On the face of it, a club seemingly unwilling to meet the costs necessary for it to fulfill its fixtures is not going to last long in the League.  But there is almost certainly more to this than meets the eye.

Gillingham fans must be gutted that they now can't sing the "We paid for your hats!" song?!
