Is it me, or has this place become really quiet?  It used to be the thing that kept me going through the working day.  Now I have to rely on Twitter and Facebook, but Twitter is good for five minutes and Facebook is rubbish as I have desperately dull friends.

I appreciate last season many wanted to forget they were Town fans for six days of the week, and some may have even have chose to end it all as we plummeted back to the basement division.  However, those of us that are left are mysteriously quiet during an decent season where we should be having enthusiastic debates about the aerodynamic benefits of Kerrouche's pate or the relative merits of di Canio's choice of outfit on matchday.

Even the Friday joke thread is decidedly quiet...  Mind you, when I have tried to post a funny, I'm chastised for being too rude!  Since when was there a line on the townend.com?!  The beauty of thetownend.com was it was a no-holds-barred celebration of masculatinity and all things bollocks, and only a select number of mongs were allowed through at any one time to suffer a barrage of abuse.

Perhaps we need more rival fans on here?  Maybe I should post a link on Ox?

It's because we're doing well - there's nothing to moan about.

I blame Di Canio / Diamandis / Twitter / Leon Knight / Leon Clarke / Michael Rose / Malpas.

It started going a bit quieter around the time we started winning games.  Town fans obviously like a good moan.

It also doesn't help that a few of the key posters from last season have moved on.

I think it's also a lot to do with any potentially decent thread getting killed off with 4 pages of shit puns.

We have to have something to split the fanbase,  if it's not the performance on the pitch then let it be the puns.

I think we need inspiration for new threads instead of recycling the same ones! Maybe another stunners thread,  but whilst there is no euro/world cup on we could do one for the town/city we are playing each week. Make it a league system.

4D - it has to be safe for work though...  I'm too cool to have time for thetownend.com when I'm at home.

Nothing wrong with a few puns - I have to confess to the odd giggle.

First observation is that Swindon have 2 main forums, this one & thisisstfc. Other Clubs just have the one main forum - Our Yellow friends.
If you amalgamated into one then this would increase the content.
Also as stated things are steady at present and moving in right direction.
A new ground, player, big game announcement etc all increase activity.

I find myself reading the forum regularly but seldom write as much as I used to. I love reading the live match reads after the games but don't actively participate in these as I am usually at the games. The match reads are great and make me smile (only if we win).

Finally after all of these years I remain a miserable git after we lose and wish I could shrug my shoulders and walk away from the ground without any care, but Sundays I can be moody when we lose and even into Monday. Tuesday I am O.K..............On the other hand 1600 + games now and I still get a buzz.

What we need to do is split pun threads into two- one for puns, one for reasonable discussion.

I'll be honest and say I like the puns. Although one more Fish thread would be the end of it...

I found a forum with a Topic called "Stupid Questions" Made for an interesting read... Maybe we need a few more threads?

Quotes from "Stupid Questions" thread.

Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultery?
How do you tell when you run out of invisible ink?
When you open a tin of evaporated milk, why is there still milk inside?
If you travel in a car at the speed of light do your headlights work?
If olive oil comes from olives where does baby oil come from?

Permission to start such a thread?

Many people who i have spoke to have said the pun threads really annoy them.Alot of threads you can look at the title and decide if you read it or not but it's got to a stage where nearly every thread you read is derailed.

Then on top of that we have a element of posters on here who are just interested in posting negative shit for the sake of it. It's been described at times as a tef meltdown and that is exactly how it is.The element of supporters who went on one when dicanio was appointed always seem to resurface when we lose, flammable ben being a prime example.

Play shit and write shit i can understand that but people moaning for the sake of moaning gets very boring to be honest

I like the forum. I use it mainly to find out information about the football team as living abroad, this is probably the best way of learning information about transfers, matches bar none.

I do also enjoy the non-football topics, and have to confess find the puns amusing, however can see why it would annoy people.

The thing to remember is that everyone is different and has different tastes. I think this forum covers a broad spectrum of football and non-football banter. For example, a lot of people on here loved Ben's nonsense threads, which personally on the whole, weren't for me. So I ignored them, instead of posting how I didn't enjoy them quite as much as others.
