I reckon I must be the only person in the world that fails to see the humour in Pilkington and the Gervais podcasts.

I tried the podcasts and just didn't get them. Sounded like three blokes talking shit about nothing in particular and totally devoid of any humour. The TV series was even worse as it requires twice the effort (eyes and ears) and still isn't funny.

To answer the question as to what else Pilkington does, wasn't he a radio producer before he found fame as a moron?

It's the forced/fake, OTT Gervais hyena-laugh that does my head in.  He's not that funny, Ricky.  A bit, yes.  But not that much.

I liked it and enjoy their 'style' of humour.

I know its on another thread but I watched the first of the new series of 'the inbetweeners' and I really didn't get the hype, I don't think I raised a smile once.

Having been to the Taj Mahal, next week's episode should be interesting.

Don't you like him in The Office?

And there's the rub..The Office IMO, was abolutely fantastic. I loved it and it worked on many levels. As it turned out, Ricky Gervais was pretty much playing himself but that didn't matter, it was brilliant and nothing like it had ever been seen before.

However, I think Gervais' huge popularity is very much a case of 'The Emperor's New Clothes'. It seems to me that just because The Office was brilliant, people think that every single thing he has done since is brilliant. If he had never done The Office, he would not have gotten anywhere near the acclaim he has done for all the subsequent stuff he has come out with which, in my ever so humble opinion, is dog shit.

Lee Hughes' spastic fucking dance he insists on doing after every goal makes me want to stab people in the eye but I'd rather watch that than Karl fucking Pilkington.

Each to their own though.

Exactly. It's why I had to turn it off. What he was howling at in that over the top manner, was often no more than worthy of a smile. I loved watching The Office, Extras, Animals and Politics (not Fame or the 11 o'clock show) but nowadays I find him very hard to watch and he almost comes across to me as a bit desperate for more fame or something.

HOLY THREAD REVIVAL!

I've been watching The Moaning of Life.

The thing that gets me about Karl is that although he is an ignorant simpleton, it's difficult to disagree with a lot of the stuff he comes out with.

My wife's just come back from Australia and watched the Moaning of Life on the plane.

She said it was the funniest thing she'd watched for ages.

But worryingly added it was a lot like listening to me !
