My enjoyment of the World Cup is not reliant on how well England do. How could it be?

And if we do, we’ll beat them.

A feature on Romelu Lukaku. He didn't have it easy.

Now you have a taste of how it feels to be ordinary.

It just needs to go to the best final game scenario before I can unleash full schadenfreude:

Needing a big win after a 1-1 draw with Sweden, and hoping Mexico (6 points) and Sweden (4 points) don't come to an entente cordiale and put you out regardless.

But being Germany you will probably find a way to get to at least the semi-finals, sadly.

If we get to the semi finals then it will be on merit. It's a long way from over, one game in the group does not make or break the tournament. People read too much into the performances or Argentina, Brazil after one game for example.
We may very well go out in the next game (and certainly will if we play like yesterday) but we are far from ordinary.

But losing to Mexico made you feel ordinary, right Smiley

I predicted a Germany, Brazil final - brave I know. I've not changed my mind yet.

On the Chubbs vein of women suddenly becoming interested, my wife asked me about extra time when we were watching a game on Saturday. I had to of course explain how it works so now she is ‘up to speed’ until the next time. Now back to your comment re Germany. Currently watching Sweden v S. Korea. If the Swedes win today they play Germany next which could in effect dump them out if Sweden win or make it extremely difficult if they hold them to a draw.

Good enough! Its no Iceland though so room for a bigger failure. South Korea are holding Sweden, just saying.

Indeed, although I do not measure Germanys' footballing success or failure on the basis of Englands achievements
