Equality for women.

I do think that's contradictory.

I think that feminism should be about equality for all people.

As far as I'm aware men and women are subject to the same laws in the UK, we have a female prime minister and head of state.

Why do you hate feminism?

I support equal opportunities, I do not support the need for equality.  Nobody is equal, let alone an entire sex.  Lets take sport as an example, I cannot stand the need for people to try and argue for equal coverage/weight to men and women's sport because there are clear and obvious athletic variations which means one dominates the other when talking generally.  Now, f people were to argue for equal opportunities to perform in just one sport, not classified by sex, crack on.  Of course you'd get some female sports stars, but it would mostly be a male dominated world.  It's just as likely you'd find most Accountants would be women if the world was left to it's own devices and equal numbers applied.  Again though, that's a generalisation rather than just saying everyone should stand on their own skills and abilities as a person.

Well, it is. I'm an intersectional feminist, but at its basic level that's what it is.

Can you tell me where that inequality is in the UK?

Violence against women, the pay gap, the way women are constantly sexualised, lack of representation.

A lot of violence against men happens in relationships, where do you get info on pay gaps? As I mentioned earlier the two most powerful people in the UK are female.

Ells.

I think your problem here is with the label: 'Feminist'. Many people think of 'feminists' as big fat lessers that hate all men and want all men to go to prison and die and stuff.

Don't blame us for the label, blame the full on men hating lessers for it.

Ditch the label and I think you'll find that most will agree with you.

Pay is an interesting one because I've yet to work anywhere that has had anything approaching a pay scheme that would suggest discriminatory practices.  This is where there are some differences at a general level, where men are much more inclined to discuss their pay and demand more and quite frankly if someone wishes to cave in and pay them when they ask, good for them.

It's not just a label though, it's a movement, with a goal that women in general should be the equal of men in all things.  That's just impossible, both ways.  There some things one sex is likely to be better at and much more than that, there are 7 billion plus of us in the world, fat chance we can all be the equal of each other at everything.  It's much more blinkered than just having a belief that we should all have the same chances in life to be the best we can be.

I've never worked anywhere where the pay scale was different for women. I think this country is a pretty fair place, it's a pity that some like to try and find a reason to be ante.

My point is that in the (naive?) use of the label, Ells is getting undeserved stick because of the stigma associate with it.
