How did it come to this? I feel terribly sorry for them.

I reckon it's a class thing. There's a perception that they have gotten away with something because they are high flyers(doctor and a lawyer is it?). Not a perception I share btw. They made some stupid choices that I wouldn't have, and paid the ultimate price.

If it's class, then people lack it. What the fuck are they supposed to have got away with? I know we've done this before on here but I'm constantly appalled at people's rush to judge others' perceived mistakes. The reaction's fucking medieval. Where's the humanity ffs?

I think a lot of people think they are guilty of child neglect/some sort of cover up, rather than being desperate grieving parents who paid the heaviest price after they left their children alone..

They get too much media attention in my opinion and I don't think they deserve it. Gerry today for instance, hence the reason for my post.

When was the last occasion you heard them speak then? They were legitimately on the radio this morning - not talking about their own case - but about how the government has thoroughly reneged on implementing the recommendations (which it entirely accepted) of the extensive enquiry it set up to equip a proper press complaints procedure with teeth.

Thought you might have had more sympathy with the point they were making instead of jumping on the tabloid "Bash the McCanns" agenda, which was part of the original problem. Expected better of you Arriba.

There is a massive irony in Gerry McCann speaking against press intrusion as someone who has massively utilised the press to publicise the search for his daughter. I don't have an opinion either way but it's hard not to find that a little baffling.

Perhaps he just finds them annoying, like most of the TEF finds you annoying Red Frog   Wink

Blimey. Think you're reading more into it than my intention. I don't feel that strongly about it and I'm not jumping on any tabloid bandwagon.
I just saw Gerry on tv and it annoyed me trivially.

But the class thing has worked two ways throughout the case, imagine the absolute shoeing they would have got in much of the media if it was a working class/immigrant/Islamic family (delete as appropriate) who had left the kids home alone and gone out with their mates, but as they were middle class doctors they got a much lighter ride (at least at first).
