Gary Bailey was the most useless goalkeeper ever - I think he made only 1 appearance and i was there to see it. I'm suprrised nobody has mentioned Steve Foster - twat - end of. David Nugent is a good shout. Out of the current lot then John Terry is our weakest link.,

2 Appearances, 1 against Eire (which I went to as well if thats the game you were thinking of Chalkie) and 1 against Mexico. He was dire!

Just over a year after this cap he was on loan at (a very good) Swindon side.

I watched England games where Carlton Palmer was England's best player! I think Palmer suffered double. He suffered like Kevin Watson at Swindon, because he was a midfielder in a bad team who would take the ball on. He also suffered like Crouch for being lanky and awkward to watch, when he could be quite effective. Admittedly he was never international standard though.
Dave Beasant is also a bit harsh, he was a top flight keeper for a long time.
You have to divide it between one cap wonders and regular first team players. Recently the inclusion of Micheal Ricketts was an absolute joke. I would say that Tony Daley is the worst England player who got multiple England caps, he was an England regular at one time. Taylor also used to pick players like Lee Sharpe and Neil Webb who couldnt get in Man United's team.

OK then. List your top 5 English centre backs that play every week.

Huddlestone hasn't played centreback regularly for years. Surely Turner or Shawcross even ahead of him?

Kings cant train and barely can ever play. Upson is just average. Cahill looks a hell of a prospect and will push the first choice 2 close in next few years. Terry is a dead cert to start. Huddlestone is laughable nowhere near the squad as defender or midfielder. Whether you will like it or not Rio is our best choice and one of the best in the world, yes hes had a mixed start to the season but when you have injuries and are in and out of a team then you find it hard to maintain consistency. Before this recent patch he was one of the most consistent performers during Capellos time so much so that Fabio considered him strong contender for the captaincy.

Geoff Thomas Carltob Palmer
I was at Wembley when the famous "shot to cornerflag" took place . We still beat France 2-0 thanks to Mr Lineker and Mr Shearer.
