There must be hundreds of them:
These are my top ten waste of spacers that I can remember.
1 Carlton Palmer
2 Michael Ricketts
3 Geoff Thomas
4 Steve Guppy
5 David Hirst
6 Neil Ruddock
7 Michael Gray
8 Dave Beasant
9 Gary Birtles
10 Mike Duxbury

A little harsh Hirst never got a fair crack.

Pele said an African team would win the World Cup by the the turn of the century. What's your point?

I wasn't trying to make a point Si - I just remember that remark from Pele so well and your post just reminded me again and made me chuckle.

Scott Carson
Lee Dixon
Phil Neville
Gary Neville (I know a lot of people rate him but I think hes totally shit)
Steve Howey
Brian Deane
Gavin McCann
Paul Stewart
Steve Guppy
Keith Curle

Ah fair enough, I thought you were trying to point out Butt ws a good player and not that Pele makes amusing throwaway comments to the media Smiley

Seth Johnson, Michael Ball and Anthony Gardner.

Bit harsh on Fanny Jeffers. He is England Under 21s leading goal scorer of all time.
13 goals in 16 games is probably worth a punt at international level.

some of those are a bit harsh, Scott Carson, Zat Knight and even Downing - at the time they were playing well in the premiership and deserved a call up. OK they may have been 5th or 6th choice due to injury, but they still deserved a go. Knight will be a squad regular before too long, and Carson at least got McLaren the sack !

Really?  How many centre backs would need long term injuries for this to happen?  Or are you expecting and sudden dramatic improvement from a 29 year old?

Downing is harsh though.
