Pretty sure he left on a free because his contract had expired, right?

No he left by mutual consent being under contract with Swindon so he could join a club in France.

He had previously agreed an extention.

Quote
Swindon Town can confirm Williams Kokolo has left the club by mutual consent.

The 24-year-old has made 28 league appearances for Town since joining the club in November 2023, as the full-back scored twice and provided two assists, and became a regular starter for the club across the majority of the 2023/24 season.

Head of Football, Jamie Russell said: "Williams is a player we were keen to work with for the upcoming season, but unfortunately due to family reasons, he departs the club with our best wishes as he will return to France to be with his family. Everybody at Swindon wishes Williams and his family the very best in the future."

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Williams for all his efforts during his time with us and wish him all the very best for the future.

He sounds like he has retired from football and at Liverpools Academy now.  Tom Clayton.

Shame as he had all the making of a league winner for this level and probably more than capable at league one at least as well.

Charlie Colkett joins AFC Croydon Athletic who are in the 8th tier. James Dunne also plays for them. Stormzy and Wilfred Zaha are co-owners of the club.

George MacEachran scored too but against his own team Smiley

Same applies to Johnny Goddard who scored against his own team Slough today.
