Had a look and Crystal Palace (Holloway) put in a bid for Ritchie in 2013.

I know when Ritchie signed for Pompey he made a big thing about coming back closer to his home to finish his career.

He wasnt a big fan of travelling to Swindon daily previously and never moved to the area which was part of the reason he joined Bournemouth.

I cant see him being willing to travel too far from his home with possibly "basket case" club Reading being the closest viable destination if that is still the case.

Eight years at Newcastle doesn't quite work for that though!

I suspect that c.£40k a week probably helped to soften that blow....

Money talks and lets face it Newcastle vs Bournemouth is a no brainer...thats a move that you have to move house for no long commute.

Are you suggesting that we might not have a head turning amount of money to offer?

Who knows, I assume he was earning considerably less than that at Pompey....

Matt Ritchie is (was? I haven’t seen him play in years) exactly the sort of exciting, creative type that would be the cherry on top of this squad…

Not that it’s a realistic option. Just the type of player we need imo

100% on both counts

But I am certain we can totally discount Ritchie as he will a. be well out of our budget and b. most probably go to a team much higher up the food, as you suggest never a realistic option.

Jude Soonsup-Bell has terminated his deal at Cordoba (Spanish 2nd tier). Apparently joining an EFL club.

Would love to "bring him home" but he will probably go to a higher league club.

Hell of a daily commute though

This suggests he was commuting a bit, also that he is doing his badges which I assume will also possibly inform where he goes next.?

Not sure that would go down well with either set of fans!
