…yet despite many, many, many people not liking McMahon he had us as a stable 2nd tier side for the most part - somewhere we haven’t been since and probably won’t ever set foot in ever again.
Two things stick in my mind. Most importantly, he got rid of John Trollope. That demonstrates what an absolute bell-end he was for that.

Secondly, I remember what I think was an important game against Bolton where he got sent off for a knee-high tackle early in the game which we eventually lost. Double bell-end with flick.

He could have won the European Cup and my view of him wouldn't change.

I can remember him getting sent off at Southend in his first match in charge!

Andy Rowland as well.

Only time I lost the love was under under McMahon.

I totally get the negative comments about McMahon and don't disagree with any of them. That said, the 95/96 season, seen in isolation was one of the all time greats and possibly my favourite ever.  But as happens so often with STFC it all turned sour all too quickly...

Andy Rowland as well.

Only time I lost the love was under under McMahon.

The only time I refused to go to watch the Town was under McMoan & Rikki Kunt.

Didn't start going again (albeit only the odd visit) until McMoan got the sack.

Getting rid of Shaun Taylor & then selling Fjortoft with no replacement (basically accepting relegation) added to the two scouse twats telling a long term ST holder that they were not the type of fan the club needed on a Radio Phone in because he dared to criticise the team were enough for me.

I was 9/10 years old in the 95/96 season, we scored 94 points and only lost 4 times. Mcmahon was a god to me.

We may have only lost four games but the fans were responsible for all of them.

I was 7/8 and same. One of my few games on Stratton Bank was last game of the season when he lifted the trophy.

Why do you say that?
McMahon had a habit of blaming fans for defeats saying we got on the players backs etc.

Not an ex player but I see Martyn Starnes, our ex CEO is targeted in the latest Joe Barton rant.
