Leigh Barnard -- the real one.

Currently turning out for my brothers 5-a-side team in West London.  He's now in his 50's.

I may be temped to go and watch.

So of the players that jumped ship last year,

How many are we now back in the same league as?

And are we now above any of them?

Other than Rose, I think most had a decent year. Douglas and Cuthbert got player of the season for their clubs I think.

Disappointingly.

If anything that just shows we've got little to worry about this season.

Southend linked with a 'keeper who played in League 2 last season and has played under Sturrock before.

Could be Smithy.

I think that is a bit harsh.  Both players were great for us upto the last season.  Douglas was the best all round central midfielder I have seen here for a while and Cuthbert was a strong defender who was being hailed as our next million pound plus defender to be leaving in the future.

It is easy to forget how good these players were because they were all poo for the last season.  Maybe that wasn't all their fault and there were problems within the club that we weren't privvy to.  It doesn't mean that people shouldn't dislike them because of what we witnessed, but to assume that we have nothing to worry about because we are basing it on their final year performance with us is a mistake IMO.  We do not have a better midfielder at the club at the moment than Douglas IMO.  Michael Rose is just poo full stop.

J P McGovern has gone to Rotherham so he is now playing at a lower level to us.

Edit:  After reading JJ's post in another thread this might not be true now.

Quite right. They had one poor season like everyone else who was here. Remember how shit Ferry was?

Rhys Evans has signed for Exeter. Rumours that Fatbury was last season heading down the m5 to purchase a season ticket are unconfirmed

But then everybody would be kung fu fighting.  And not just Greer at Charlton.

I'd rather have Jack Douglas than 10/11 Douglas, or Carl Douglas.
