It maybe uncommon, but come on, other countries have more and they don't come to a stand still.
Because they pay extra taxes to go towards the provision of snow-related services. Given the climate here, proposing tax hikes to improve infrastructure in snow would be an election loser for anbybody

Heavy snow in Farnborough.  SW Trains were advising that people only travelled if necessary this morning.  I managed to get in, but train was nearly empty.  Most of my colleagues are at home today.

Heavy snow in Farnborough.  SW Trains were advising that people only travelled if necessary this morning.  I managed to get in, but train was nearly empty.  Most of my colleagues are at home today.

Central London is practically deserted.
Some of my mated are organising a big snowball fight in Holborn. I'm tempted to try the tube and see if I can get there. Will be quite amusing to see the centre empty!

Caught the 6.30am train and just this minute walked into the office which is empty bar myself and the receptionist
