Certainly an eye opener....

Didn't know that about the Ciren Academy being the first in the country! If only he had done it at Swindon we'd have been years ahead of the game!

I reckon Lars Lagerbeck and Tommy Sonderberg, in charge of Sweden, were the last...before them Jimmy Quinn and Mick Gooding....Steve Gritt and Alan Curbishley. Can't think of more right now, but there must be some.

Evans + Houllier

They both take quite a hands on affair in first team matters though don't they?

Cirencester Academy is the only academy that doesn't meet the Prem/FL Academy requirements. They are allowed to keep the name (legally) because they were the first. True if not interesting.

Perhaps Richard Money is to be the new manager and Dave Hockaday to be given a role with the youths or assistant.

Although I guess it is unlikely he would leave Southampton to come to Swindon.

You and the Adver. Although it clearly wasn't at the time was it unless you're saying Watkins has been directly lying in the statements he's made this week?

Is it just me or does anyone else share a slight pleasure in the fact that we've lured a manager away from another job/club....?

The headline that Money walked out on Newcastle to become Swindon's Manager is something to behold. I'm skipping the small print... ie he was their academy director... but it feels good!

Anyway back on thread.... I reckon Aljofree will succeed DD.  Wink

The point is Reg neither of you "knew". As I said in one of the 300 other threads on this topic, if there's one thing this whole drawn out process has shown us, it's that all the various "sauces" have been shown to be bullshit. Not having a pop, I'm sure you've got as you claim a highly credible sauce and that at the time he/she/it told you Money had got the job he probably was the leading candidate. Just as all those who "knew" it was going to be Calderwood on Tuesday were probably also tipped off by reliable sauces who were quite right to be confident in saying that on Tuesday HE was the leading candidate. etc etc for all the other names/sauces that have been flagged around over the past few weeks. But that's all any of it's been - fairly reliable-ish rumours about who's been the lead candidate in a field of three/four/however many at a given time, not a definite appointment. The whole thing has been one long merry dance of bullshit and the only people who've really known who was in front and still the only people who KNOW who's going to get the job are Fitton and Watkins.
