Forgive me, in what way?
As Paul D said just before me, Quagmire's point was heavily sarcastic...or as I prefer to say, ironic. It was clearly  and quite rightly, taking the piss out of the anti Power brigade (i.e Poundland Power etc)..not too many on here, they mainly inhabit the Adver comments section and FB...

Presume it’s now unlikely Woolery and/or Isgrove are staying. Doesn’t Wellens usually put a deadline for accepting a new offer and then it’s withdrawn.

Got the feeling their replacements are already in place.
Both players are back in training I understand, I have a feeling that both are waiting to see if any other club come in with an offer, both are good players on their day (however rare their days are) but both are not that difficult to replace too. I hope Wellens won't be held to ransom and that its sorted asap so Wellens knows what he has to bring in.

This new fella, Payne, almost seems a physical clone of Isgrove - diminutive gifted player. Same can be said of Palmer.

All we need is to sign Dopey, Doc and Sneezy to get a full set!

Wellens mentioned he was hopeful of agreeing something with Woolery as he has been in contact with him, I'd hope he stays as on his day he is a tricky player and does win many free kicks and gets his fair share of assists.

I suspect the issue is Woolery see's himself as a striker but Wellens see's him out wide so may depend if there is decent interest and  what position they see him filling.

Palmer is 5 foot 10 but very slightly built.

I think the signing of Smith is the pacy, tricky forward position.

Maybe a Woolery has stagnated, a bit like Keshi, after being here a bit too long.

I agree with Wellens, no way is Woolery a striker.

Lincoln fans views on Jack Payne.

Quote from: Lincoln City Fans
Frees a chunk of wages for probably a couple of players ( not that I had any idea as to what he was on). Seems a good move for all parties. Jack needs a new start at somewhere he's going to get game time so good luck to him

Agreed free transfer is fair enough given we'll have his wages taken off. Shame it never worked out given his first few games.

There's certainly a decent player in there, but one who perhaps is too much of a luxury in a scrap, and the majority of L1 games end up like that.

Similar story with his last two clubs, looks a world beater to begin with but the wheels quickly fall off. Useful, but no end product. Especially for the money he was on.

yes he was hot and cold. Good luck to him.

I thought Payne was one of our more dynamic, creative and skilful players when he played. Always looked like he could create something, given the chance. Would have liked him to stay. Taking into account his reported high wage, the new manager, new model and new system, perhaps it would be a wasted wage? I hope he does well for Swinton but we’ll do fine without him.

One good pull back for Harry to score against Everton, after a promising first few games cannot remember much else.

Shame as think he could have pushed on to be exactly the sort of player we’re looking for.
But, didn’t seem a player Appleton wanted here

Definitely has the ability to be a good League 1 player and was terrific at the start. Not a MA type player though.
Bit limited positionally and didn't like him when played out wide. Really could do with scoring a few more goals as well.

Flattered to deceive, good move for both clubs if Swindon can get the best out of him. I wonder how long before he is warming the bench. Good luck Jack.

Jack Payne was a bit of an enigma as a Lincoln player. He came to us from Huddersfield a little over a year ago and in his first few appearances we seemed to have acquired a gem. A small bundle of tricks who had the capability to open up opposition defences with one quick pass. His pull back for Anderson's first minute strike against Everton and a sublime defence splitting pass in the home game against Sunderland which led to Walker's second goal that day showed that he could be an very good player.
The problem though was that for every decent performance, there were three or four anonymous ones. He is clearly a player who when things are going well and the whole team is firing on all cylinders he will greatly contribute. When a team has their backs against the wall and are scrapping for a hard earned away point, he was just too much of a luxury. You look at his previous clubs and this is a pattern that has followed his career.
There is without doubt a skillful player there, but he wasn't fancied by our manager and it is now for the best that he gets the chance to re-start his career at Swindon, whilst we get the chance to bring in players who our manager will play on a regular basis.
City fans will wish him the best and wonder whether we've let another go on to better things such as the likes of Jon Nolan and Sam Clucas or whether he's found his level such as the likes of Maguire-Drew. It's an important move for him as chances for him will become fewer and fewer from here on in

Jack Payne.
Most of the really great players have some trait out of the ordinary, which makes them special. Being extremely small is not often one of them but can be. The only time I saw Paul Scholes in his playing career, he was sub in a not very important Champions League group game and as he jogged by warming up, I could n't believe how small he was.
Being that size, no doubt helped him get the ball under control and manipulate it with ease, aided by such a low centre of gravity.
When Payne first arrived at Sincil Bank there were hints of a L1 Scholes as we thrashed Southend. However, being small in a physical game means you have to be pretty exceptional.
Scholes had brilliant vision and a vast array of passing options and a deadly accurate shot. He always knew what he was going to do with the ball before it was even in his possession.
Now a L1 player does not need all of the talents Scholes had, but when his manager had a choice Payne or Hesketh... he invariably chose Hesketh.
Why?
Well, while Payne occasionally picked the right option, it seemed more by chance than design. In contrast, the less popular Hesketh more often saw and played the first time ball to the benefit of his colleague, when you suspected Payne would be having his sixth touch and embarking on a mazy dribble to nowhere.

Good feet, poor brain.
I'd sum him up with "a touch too many".

Payne's end product we ultimately disappointing.
Sure Appleton picked him, but he almost always took him off.
I felt he slowed us down and was often bullied.

too often, a blunt instrument for us. Good luck to him, but no loss.

As has been said earlier, Payne flattered to deceive.
All the components to be a good player- skill, anticipation, vision - but never seemed to able to put them all together for us and his reputation suggests that has been a problem previously.
Too often he would charge head down into a cul-de-sac. And yes, that goal line 'clearance' at Huddersfield. I often wonder if that had gone in, his confidence in finishing might not have been affected and he might have had a much more productive season, he always seemed to panic when confronted with a chance thereafter - or again, was it always thus?

Very skilful, he should do well in a team where he is allowed to be a play maker.

I thought Payne looked really great in the early games.. went off the boil a bit but was an easy scapegoat. Wouldnt surprise me at all if he goes on to better things.

We paid some cost towards the move. I get the impression we had players we couldn’t really afford in the new world. Good that we are sensible in reacting to the current situation. I wonder if we are also buying subsidised players I guess we are.

Based upon both players Insta's it looks like the following - Woolrey is training by himself (running & gym work) & Isgrove is still on holiday judging by his story this morning.

With Lincoln's game being so heavily based on physical strength in recent times, sounds like he wasn't in the right place. Will be up to us to prove you can succeed playing a different game in L1.

Absolutely this, certianly under the Cowleys he would have seen the ball go over his head often, no idea how Appleton has them set up though.

Most say he has skill but lack a final ball, sounds familiar? hopefully hes better than Anderson though.

The division 1 games I have watched over the last couple of seasons seem to be a lot more long ball than Division 2.

If that is correct then surely Isgrove is taking the p!ss and doesn't want to be here any longer or he would be in this country and wanting his agent to get a deal sorted (with stfc or someone else), so he can get back to training.
