Agreed. Do we turn on Wellens when he goes and say he was a bit dour? I’ll put my neck on the line and say, I think Yates will score 20, Anderson (if he stays fit) will be one of the brightest sparks in League 1, and Doyle will score 15+.

But there’s nothing wrong with summer departures if we think the Covid situation will bring a quality of player into our price range that wouldn’t have been in it before, and regardless of how good those leaving are, we may be able to improve. How the club can afford to offer any contracts when there’s a possibility of hugely reduced gate receipts (and no season ticket income) next year though, is beyond me. Isn’t this imaginary money?

Anderson has had about a dozen good games in 3 years with a beyond questionable attitude and poor fitness. Other than the hatrick against an awful Cambridge side Anderson contributed nothing to the side from mid-October onwards which coincided with the start of our title winning form.
Yates scored a dozen goals in league 2 and that’s about the sub-total of his career to date, and I think his effort and personality causes people overhype his ability.
There’s no revisionism here it’s more a case of neither have done anything outside of league 2 and both aren’t that good that we need to worry about replacing them. We’ve already replaced Anderson with an upgrade in DJ.

As for Woolery I actually hope he stays as he’s useful at both ends of the pitch but if he can’t be bothered to return calls or is holding out for better deals then he isn’t worth waiting for.

Doyle will do nothing at Bolton, who won’t be able to afford to pay him anyway, so he’ll get himself out of his contract. They’ll be mad hysteria of him coming back. He’ll sign for Blackpool.

Yates will have a bang average 10 goal season leading to many TEFers claiming how right they were about Yates. Following season he smashes in 26 and earns a £4m move to Middlesbrough.

Anderson will score the winner on his debut and set up a goal in the second game. Then he’ll go 18 games without a goal or assist before smashing 4 goals in, including a goal of the season contender in one game, against us - naturally.

When it comes to reflecting on 19/20, I think there will always be the caveat of the * (ie although being awarded the title we'll never know if we'd have actually won it after 46 games.  A lot could have happened in the missing 10.

I liked REG, could go far, would welcome him back but hes been linked to Blackpool too for the last few months, doubt we will have the pulling power to attract him if they are in for him.

If Fryers signs which is looking likely then he can cover CB/LB and if Donohue is joining for a trial period then I reckon resources and funds will be prioritised elsewhere (ST and GK) first.

Get those covered and anything else in the kitty at the end we may go for him again as extra cover.
