I think better comms from the club would help to calm things down. As I mentioned yesterday, there was a lot of fondness for last year’s team and it’s being dismantled. It may well get better, but we risk losing the sense of optimism a promoted club should have and the club hasn’t reacted yet. All it would have taken is a few words from Power or his mute Chief Exec, to say, don’t worry, it’s all in hand. Zero engagement at the moment.

They're not, you're just more exposed to them and care more about the subject matter they're posting about so you notice it more.
I dunno, I think we are better at embarrassing ourselves than most. Just need football Phil and Nobby on FB and Twitter we'd give quite the show!

Media team on furlough I'd imagine.

I'd stay off Twitter then. Rivers of bitter salty tears being shed there
I left Twitter for exactly that reason - the last benefit of being on there amid the world burning around us was the #STFC community, but even that's pretty toxic at times now.

I sanitized my twitter feed so I don't see too much of it. And facebook. I know where to go if I need to witness the meltdown, but other than that, I am largely spared it.

The thing is it hasn't actually been dismantled has it?! Of the contracted players we've so far only lost Doyle, McCormick and Anderson. The first of which wanted to be closer to home and got a 3 year contract, we were never and should never have tried to compete with that. McCormick looked past it last season and would have only been backup in league 1 so is no loss. Anderson is completely toxic and disruptive, I'm glad he's gone. Our form was better without him last season and Wellens didn't really want to keep him and that's good enough for me. The rest that have left were loan players, they were never ours and were brought in for the sole purpose of getting us out of league 2. DJ and Benda are the only one's I'd like back, I still don't think Yates is worth £250k+ and a 3 year contract so similar to Doyle I'm glad we didn't try to push the boat out.

I use Twatter purely for team sheets on matchdays, I never read it otherwise unless someone posts a link on here that may be of interest, its too full of mongs with opinions for my liking.

Twitter is generally the fastest way of getting football news and similarly to you PV, why I tend to use that medium. Its also the medium that allows the stupidest most nonsensical of all the 'football banter'.

I agree with almost all of that, I would have liked to have kept LMc as I think hes a decent backup keeper but otherwise you are spot on. Its also the medium that allows the stupidest most nonsensical of all the 'football banter'.
Its bants init mate.

I find twitter great for getting up to date news but on the other hand you get all the nonsense of poor rumour accounts and idiotic opposing fans giving it the big one as it’s their only source of happiness.
Luckily any Swindon fans I follow are generally quite balanced in opinions and get behind the club.

Take the point, but we all hoped and believed we’d be in pole position for Grant (maybe we still are) and Yates (not losing to another L1 club, and not a big one at that) and even Doyle (even if his reasoning makes some personal sense). Lots of Anderson revisionism coming through as well. When fit, he’s a good player. Wellens himself said on the LS pod I think that he’s one of the most talented about.

It’s hasn’t completely unravelled yet but let’s not kid ourselves - we’ve lost 82% of our goals from last season. We’ve also potentially lost a good chunk of our assists if Woolery and Isgrove don’t sign and as far as I’m aware we don’t have a professional keeper on our books. I know the loan players were expected to go anyway but let’s be honest - we would have happily taken them all back and I personally feel the club should have done (maybe they did / have) to get Benda, DJ and Yates back. We are a worse team without them (no shit) and they are big important shoes to fill AND they do need to be filled. Grant also hasn’t signed. That potentially in a worse case scenario pretty much leaves our defence and Doughty.

In his 1st 2 seasons other than drink driving and having a bust up with Norris' wife Anderson did nothing. Last season he fell out with Wellens, but did have a few good games, he was injured a lot but and our form was actually better without Anderson. Our run of wins and all our best results last season were in matches where Anderson didn't play, not revisionism just facts.

Of course Woolery, Rose, Isgrove, Grant and DJ could all sign and then it’s just keepers and strikers

Yep, definitely not fussed about losing Anderson, especially as he was reportedly our highest earner...
