Perm hunch or credible rumour?

Edit: Warne has said he doesn’t think it’ll be a permanent, sadly.

From Warne earlier today.

Quote
ROTHERHAM United are poised to decide on the future of striker Jerry Yates in the next couple of days.

The League One Millers recalled the 23-year-old from his prolific loan spell at fourth-tier pace-setters Swindon Town this week and brought him on as a substitute against Peterborough United on Saturday.

But a return to the County Ground before the close of this month’s transfer window for a second loan stint looks to be the most likely option for the forward.

Yates, who would be a squad player at Rotherham, is known to favour rejoining the Robins and Warne has hinted he won't keep a player who'd prefer to be elsewhere.

"I'll make a decision after this weekend," the boss said. "I think I know what's happening.

"I'll have another chat with Jerry and another chat with Swindon. I've got to do what's right for our club but I've got to have a committed player."

The Advertiser understands there was interest in Yates from other clubs. However, players can turn out for only two teams in a season so his Millers appearance at London Road has ruled out a January switch to any side other than Swindon.

Any move is likely to be temporary.

Yates' contract at AESSEAL New York Stadium expires in the summer but Rotherham have an option to extend it by a year and could cash in on the summer on an attacker who is a wanted man after 13 goals in 29 outings this term.

When asked if there was a possibility the player could move to Swindon on a permanent deal before next Friday's deadline Warne replied: "I don't think that will happen, no."

The Millers remain in the market for a creative forward and a defender but are in no hurry to make signings as long as they hang on to all of their key men.

It sounds to me as though he's basically saying I'm going to let him go back because he doesn't want to stay with Rotherham.

Yep. Then extend his contract and get a decent fee for him in the summer.

Or he dosen't think he's good enough for a top league one club at the moment

Having read that, I'd be somewhat surprised if he didn't come back...

Come on guys and gals. Get the tissues ready, we’re getting them both back.

You’re the chairman of Bradford. Your manager sends out on loan a ‘deadwood’ player to another club that he’d have  considered to not be a threat.

Why else would you send out on loan a striker to another team in your league? Forget the money side for a second. If you thought that Swindon were a promotion threat would YOU send out a striker on loan to them? Like fuck you would.

So you have and the GP has set the world on fire. You recall him and four games on the GP has fired more blanks than a eunuch at an orgy. Awkward. If you’re the chairman what are you honestly thinking? Other than your manager has the acumen of a blind beggar you have one game to play between now and the drawbridge closing on the transfer window. You know if you keep him you’ll have to pay his wages till the EOS and he then fuck off elsewhere for nothing. Where? It does not matter, you’ve lost any value and another season in the basement beckons. The sensible thing it to let him go, even if he scores on Tuesday a one in five strike rate pales when up against 23/23.

Nothing in that convinces me Doyle will come back. They don't want to sell him by the sounds of it... Just hope we can get a promotion and make an attempt to sign him in July
