Devitt won’t be cheap, for sure. If we also get Bennett in that will be serious wonga for us.

Devitt would be a value for money sort of signing.... only really showed as a decent Div 4 player, after a lot of loans from Hull, when he went to Morecambe, and has backed that up at Carlisle...

Don’t want any grief later, but I think Devitt is on his way here. Not sure when.

You should propose something ludicrous you'll do, if it doesn't come off. That should keep the mob at bay.

I guess you mean me.... my take questioned Wellens assertion that Theo scored in " batches"  I suppose the definition could be nebulous but for me means runs of say 4 in 5/6 that sort of thing.  Theo did manage  back to back goals in Feb and then April/May sandwiching another pair in March... definitely steady.

Us, Shrews and Tranmere going for Sid.

Would think we’d be third, maybe second, in the pecking order but you never know!

Let’s be fair, this season coming is going to be different to last in many ways on many levels. Therefore the players who make it onto the field from last seasons crop are going to be in a different place and ought to play differently to complement those around them.

On a similar vein, Power mentioned that Wellens was his 2nd choice behind Brown. A fact that would have been conveyed to RW at the time. Now managerial rolls are plentiful in one way but few and far between in another. Wellens would only likely be considered for a div 1/2 roll so that would rule him out of the Pl/Champs rolls. Now I am assuming here but in RW position i’d be looking at the Swindon job thinking if PB fucks up its mine to lose. Therefore you’d like to think that he’d keep a keen eye on our results and a keener eye on the team by dropping into the odd town game to see how things are on the pitch as well as going to other games to keep tabs on players. Also at his level within the game they all have their own network of friends and contacts (Jewell) being a case in point. The point I am trying to make is that the current player recruitment started way before the January window. Of course a lot has happened since the season kicked off last August but the world of professional football is 24/7 - 365 now, todays signing IMHO backs that up to some level as none of us saw that one coming, rest assured there are going to be plenty more where that one came from.

Our chances probably depend on whether being closer to London is more important than playing in L1

It will be a a combination of salary, location and the chances of a successful season. I’d say we’d lead 2 out of 3 of those.

Danny Rose may have recommended him, played alongside him for a few games at Portsmouth.

Well, they could be.
Or brilliant.

Not clear if we are signing what we hope are key players, or 'filler'. If we are going for a smaller squad then the latter isn't likely.

I'd have thought it pretty obvious.... the question about having too many loans in key positions will be raised. Ok atm we don't know if May is just going to be a squad man, or a key man, but with our recent history, we're looking for signs of intent in the marquee.
