Tbh, it couldn't do any harm if Power just came out and said 'I'm looking to bring in x number of players although it may take time'.

He may, of course, have no intention of bringing anyone in. Who knows.

This pre-season has been a complete disaster....Power could maybe salvage something with some credible signings this week, but as things stand the club seems to be heading for the rocks, rudderless.

Well, at least when this window does shut we'll know for sure which way the wind's blowing.

I'm hoping by now Premiership sides will know who they want to loan out this season and we may see some movements this week.

BBC Wilts only report signings when Power informs them. They do no digging around themselves.

Everything is, as you say, social media guesswork

That's not true.
But I can see why people think that

I haven't got a name for my punt but: they will have spent time at QPR or been released from Reading's academy. Since then, they have rebuilt their career in the south east or Brighton area playing a very low level of non-league but gradually moving up the ranks. They will also have done some coaching at youth level.

Or they used to be in Timmy Sherwood's reserve team.

Okay, a named punt: Ryan Seager - Saints young forward. Went on loan to Crewe last season. A quick poacher who surely needs games.

Josh Lelan hasn't been mentioned anywhere.....was a bit shit when on loan from Derby a couple of years back, but young and doesn't have a club, so would be nice and cheap.

He obviously didn't impress in Argyle's 9-0 win over St Blazey..

I don't suppose the St Blazey keeper did either....Nigel Martyn started at St Blazey, apparently he was scouted by the Rovers tea lady, who was in Cornwall on holiday.

Not really a rumour, but this from the Southampton forum

'As suspected, given that he remained with the first team seems like Alfie Jones has now surpassed Jordan Turnbull in the CB pecking order. When you factor in McCarthy and hopefully Wood too, hard to see a future for JB here now..'

We could do a lot worse than Turnbull.

Indeed. Chuck in Stephens as well and we're sorted.
