Short quote from the Puffster in today's WDP...

Quote

The timing of the statement not only appears strange, coming so soon after Friday's meeting, which in a joint statement was described as "both constructive and positive", but is also embarrassing for Puffett after he had handled the meeting so judiciously.

"When I left the meeting I was delighted that we had sorted out a route to avoid re-occurrences of what had happened in the past," said Puffett last night.

Appears as mystified as the rest of us.    Shrug

Oh and an update from the Beeb, strange that the interview requests have been turned down after the club's statement....

Quote

The truce lasted less than 72 hours
For the third week in a row Swindon Town have released a lengthy statement on the club website about matters off-the-field.

Despite apparently constructive talks on Friday night the statmeent criticises the actions of the Supporters Trust and also 'appeals to the local press to contact the club for information regarding the club'.

Repeated requests from BBC Radio Swindon for an interview with major benefactor Sir Seton Wills, his son James or their advisor Mike Diamandis have been turned down.

Meanwhile on the pitch, Swindon should complete the loan signing of Brentford striker Alex Rhodes later today.

The 24-year-old, who has scored just five league goals in his career and can also play on the left wing, will move to the County Ground for a month initially.

The deal comes as Swindon have scored just four goals in their last five games.

And Town's reserve side continue their season this evening. A young squad - including three Under 16 players - takes on Plymouth at Swindon Supermarine.

On the WDP.......

Quote
As a former CEO of Swindon Town I am gobsmacked to hear that once again war has broken out at the County Ground. It has become evident over the past four or so years that this board has little business acumen - or proper investment (save the Wills family)- to take the club forward. And given the inept performance in the spin and PR departments, perhaps it is time for someone else to have a go. As a Town fan and a Moonraker myself, I read with horror of the recent war of words and it saddens me enormously to see the club has not moved forward one inch since 2002. For a board of directors to so openly declare war on its own supporters, is about as close to committing sporting suicide as you can get. You couldn't write a novel like this - although maybe Brian Rix could pen a farce!

Rowe was sacked by this lot having been CEO under Donegan and Blatchley, so personally I take no notice of what he has to say.

I'll always remember him trying to sign Stan Collywobble (first time round) when he was with Bradford in the Premiership.

Always seemed a decent enough bloke though.

Yes Reg but who's word are you taking that Blatchely and Donegan were so bad, Diamandis?

Diamandis will take this club nowhere. We will continue in intensive care, be drip fed on a life suppot machine, basically stuck going nowhere.

We wont move forward as no investors will com in with them in charge, they MUST go

I don't need anyone's word on the matter, I just observed the way the club was being run at the time.....if you think this lot are bad, then the previous regime were infinitely worse.

There is no comparison between this board and those in the past. It is quite clear that we have atleast made small steps forwards in terms of marketing and communication with fans.

I tend to stay quiet in these sorts of issues as I know very little about what goes on behind the scenes of the club. I am however sick and tired of this board spouting crap at us and expecting us to smaile and agree - the latest statement just takes the piss.

Everybody agreed that last week's meeting was constructive and positive, then they come out and personally attack one of the figure heads of our fan base and expect us to hush?! They are taking us for a ride and it annoys me that the club I love to support ios being held back by chilidish, immature behaviour on top of the problems already encountered with SBC. We moan that we can't work with the council.....we can't even work with ourselves at the moment and considering stadiums take 3-4 years minimum to plan and build, I can see our club falling into a black hole before it ever happens.

If they won't go without recouping their investment, then their thinly veiled threats look even more ridiculous.

Somes fans say they should grow up.

Others say they should go.

I say: Can't we all love each other?
