I was going to offer up Chris Hay until I looked at his stats - 32 goals in 98 games.
My memory of players and games is poor.
How about Andy Rollins or Russell Lewis?
We were top of Div 1 and Hay was top scorer in the league just before Xmas IIRC. Then Hay got injured and we sold Wayne Allison and didn’t win a game second half of the season or something like that. Remember in our relegation season he scored in the home win against Huddersfield after we hadn’t won for a stupid amount of games and a decent brace against Norwich and then ended up selling him straight after.

Is Dany N’Guessan still playing? The only thing I can remember about him was the disallowed goal against Chelsea.

You probably don't remember, Reg, there used to be more than twenty teams in the top division

He’s playing in Norway according to Wikipedia.

As with many of our Francophone signings, he looked useful for a bit and then sort of faded away

Steady. You’ll be lumped in with that West Ham fella who doesn’t rate African players.

Not quite 50 appearances but Alan O'Brien made 40 appearances for us. I really wanted him to become one of the best wingers we ever had but he just could not cross a ball. Someone should've had a word in his ear and told him to be a 100m sprinter. Probably would've had a more successful career. Amazing runner - crap footballer. Shame.
Mate of mine was a Newcastle season ticket holder at the time, when we signed O'Brien he sent me an email that just said.... 'Can run fucking quick, cannot cross a football' - seems NUFC fans clocked his abilities early doors!

yes, and as pointed out keeps a town asset from rotting - and a possible route back next season if Flitcroft departs

Very clever move, to me it makes it sound like DF could be gone end of season regardless of promotion.

Think that's reading too much into it. If we don't go up then maybe so..

If nothing else, it'll likely help his saleability.
