The timing of his tweet is after it came up on here. He knows no more than the average Joe.
So as things stand we're pretty much basing this on a post from Stagsnet? and a couple of tweets. it's the rumours thread afterall

My original post was quoting a Mansfield fan on One Football staying ‘we've Signed Preston’

Town were always going to lose at least one player to Mansfield. That's just nature of the beast.
We've offered Preston 3-years which would be very tempting for any L2 player but there really isn't much Town can do if he wants to work for David Flitcroft.
If I was any player I'd be looking at Mansfield's form under DF and really thinking whether that's where I'd want to be. Then again, the same could be said for Brown at Swindon.
In Conclusion: If I was Matt Preston's agent, I'd be trying to secure him an offer beyond Swindon and Mansfield!
I agree with the last part particularly. He looks like a L1 defender from what I've seen of him. The fact we are competing & potentially losing out to Mansfield for players is a sad indictment of our current status though (yes, I know Radford has been throwing cash at it since the start of last season).

Sounds almost Flitcroft-esque when he left
“I’ve researched the club and the fans get behind the players here. It’s a massive thing to know that, as a player, you’re coming to a club where the fans are supporting you in the stands.”
So, it’s all our fault - again.

I do love a non league punt. The lower down the food chain the better.
I always thought Johnny Goddard would turn out fine, though.
Me too.

Or perhaps he does mean that he’d rather play somewhere where the fans don’t cheer when their leading goalscorer is substitutesd. Remember he’s probably sat in the stands and had to listen to the abuse that the players get during games. Who knows, that (along with the pots of gold he’s been offered) might have made the difference 😄

I suppose 4000 boos aren't as bad as 7000 boos If he'd stayed I'm pretty sure we won't be getting 7000 boos next season. I also think 4000 is optimistic on the Stage front. Not a great start to building for next season in that Mansfield appear to be more attractive (throwing money at it) than us. Also, unless we get another CB it gets players we don't want near the first team closer to it. On the positive side its very early doors to read too much into anything. Panic for me will start mid to late July but hopefully won't be needed.
