If someone who has been managed by Flitcroft previously chooses to willfully follow him, then good luck to him. Must have a fucking screw loose or Mansfield are paying way more than we are.
Also why the fuck do we want Menayese (spelling) to replace him. We need a proper CB not a youngster who can't judge a header!

He impressed Brown in training or something like that.

Preston is out of contact, bound to look after himself in contact length and hard cash. Disappointing loss (IMO) but not surprising. Also why the fuck do we want Menayese (spelling) to replace him. We need a proper CB not a youngster who can't judge a header! It'll be interesting to see if he's going to be brought in as first teamer or cover. Seems well off what we'd need to base a promotion push on to me. He could be great in a year's time (or not), can't afford to wait that long to find out. I am still working on the assumption slashed budget still means competative budget.

I'll be gutted if he goes to them over us & would only assume it would be for financial reasons rather than footballing ones. Tbf to Town I can't imagine many players being offered 3 year deals at this level, especially those coming back from a relatively long term injury.

You’d need to be a pretty incredible manager to persuade a lower league footballer not to take the most lucrative offer. They’re not rich. Mansfield will pay more. Even I would work for Flitcroft for a bit more money.
Actually, no I wouldn’t. I couldn’t. Anyone else, maybe.

How reliable is Ben Wills? His twitter feed seems to suggest that MP has signed for Mansfield according to 'unsubstantiated rumours'.

Preston seemed to end up out of contact, as he wanted more than Saddlers were offering.... therefore he was always likely to go to Mansfield. Radford is throwing money at it, whether he's got the money is perhaps another story. Where has the Mayo talk come from... I thought we'd offered to McGivern, prob knowing that Preston was unlikely.

Brown, when he clarified his comments on maybe bringing back a former loan player
OK, I suppose if Lancashire is crocked we'll need another CH, assuming Deon is back up and running.

Or if McGiven doesn't accept. Or if Deon is crocked. Or if someone comes in with a £1.50 bid for Robertson.

Can a mod move this to former players thread (when confirmed). ===== Well, we know how they'll beat us at WR this season then... Hopefully we'll play them early doors while he's still suspended

The timing of his tweet is after it came up on here. He knows no more than the average Joe.

I don't think Ben is ITK and, to be fair, I don't think he's ever claimed to be. The Tweet in question seems to be missing the all important 'suggest'. As yet unsubstantiated rumours [suggest] Matt Preston has signed for Mansfield after rejecting a deal from Swindon.
Will confirm that as & when it's, well, confirmed. ...but maybe that's just how I read it.

So as things stand we're pretty much basing this on a post from Stagsnet?

Town were always going to lose at least one player to Mansfield. That's just nature of the beast.
We've offered Preston 3-years which would be very tempting for any L2 player but there really isn't much Town can do if he wants to work for David Flitcroft.
If I was any player I'd be looking at Mansfield's form under DF and really thinking whether that's where I'd want to be. Then again, the same could be said for Brown at Swindon.
In Conclusion: If I was Matt Preston's agent, I'd be trying to secure him an offer beyond Swindon and Mansfield!
