My kids had this maths question - I can't solve it so if anyone else can I'd like to understand it.
• This is a 5 digit number. • The units digit is the same as the thousands digit. • There is one 4 in the number. • The units digit is the same as the last digit of this year. • The ten thousand digit is two more than the thousands digit.
So I've got 97xx7 which one of the x=4 - surely we are missing info ??
What kind of maths question is that?! It's a comprehension question and a pretty shit one at that.

I agree - there is something missing. I just wanted to check that my Maths A-Level, accountancy qualification and periods of playing darts wasn't letting me down

The number in the "thousands" column is the same as the number in the "units" column

You sound surprised that something that has happened every year for decades is happening again?

If people didn't buy it then it wouldn't be on the shelves.
It's Halloween stuff here - everything has been re-branded in orange or had a pumpkin makeover. They even stick pumpkin in beer!

Sorry, 97147. "There is 1 4 in the number" If that is the answer then it's a joke. Even if it's not the answer, as Samdy said, it's not a maths question.

Recent survey shows that a majority of people in the UK, consider themselves to have no religion... the number of practising Christians is quite small. So the winter festival has just become an excuse for a materialistic consumerist splurge and a piss up. It's expensive, requires planning for mostly women, and so they like to spread the load in terms of time and money. Many will join Christmas clubs, so the cost is spread all year. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/sep/04/half-uk-population-has-no-religion-british-social-attitudes-survey

The Daily Mail is now no longer blocked in Thailand. This is a dark day for the nation.
