I think it's fair to say then that Gillingham coming back with an improved bid was bollocks as that would be on DAFC's official site seeing as ours and Wimbledon's has been reported on there. It's at times like this where Di Canio's going to come into his own hopefully in attracting the player to us. You would hope he would have a bit more appeal with all due respect, than Terry Brown.

For what it's worth, Gary Rose just twatted this when asked about news on any further signings...

Would be pretty bad if AFCW beat us to the signature of Birchall. They have one of the lowest budgets in the league.

Depends what he wants really. I suppose Wimbledon would be an easier move for him to make.

Why the fuck would he choose Wimbledon over us ?

Apart from being closer to home, thats all they have going for them.

I wouldn't say that.

Just because Terry Brown isn't 'Paolo Di Canio' doesn't mean he can't sell a club.

Nothing to do with PDC.

We're a bigger club, with a bigger budget and better facilities.

That hasn't stopped players from turning us down in the past. Richie Jones to Hartlepool immediately comes to mind - Danny Wilson convinced him to join them and there were several far 'bigger' teams with far better budgets and facilities.

I would expect Swindon to seal this but if Terry Brown builds him up and convinces him that's he's going to be a superstar at Wimbledon then he could be easily swayed.

Also the location of Wimbledon maybe better for him as he his family are around the Kent area.

If Birchall has to think about this for more than 5 seconds then PDC should end interest in him straight away. Its a toss up between playing for a big club in this league, promotion candidates and of course PDC or playing in front of less than 2,000 each week. Depends how ambitious he really is. Gillingham is a shit hole too.

He'd probably have more chance of being in the first team at Wimbledon

Yep, he's going to struggle to get in ahead of our vast array of strikers.

I hope he does sign. Looks to have real talent, and has a similar record to austin in a higher league.

So does anybody have any ideas who 'the big signing' Wray was on about last month?
