But equally 200K isn't likely going to buy you a player with a FL scoring pedigree.

That's the problem, £200k is getting you less and less nowadays and spending £200k on someone like him should (if he hits the right notes) reap massive rewards in the future. Didn't Simon Cox sign for a similar figure from Reading having not scored many on a few loans then banged them in here and got a £1.2m+ move to WBA?

Cox came on loan and banged in 8 in 19 before we bought him, having previously done 3 in 8 for Northampton (and nothing before).

So yes he hadn't done that much, but we knew a lot more about him then Woolery.

if we sign him that's great, I've no idea if he's any good/bad/indifferent

TBH, over the many years I've supported STFC we've had our fair share of decent strikers - last season being a glaring exception.

Woollery was meant to be a loan till FGR trumped with a cash offer, so would have been the same as Cox, my point was you can't judge someone based on their previous record at 1/2 clubs as we have always somehow turned "crap" players into good players here, Cox and Parkin come to mind most recently. £200k isn't really a lot of money considering we paid £150k (ish) for Norris, £200k for Obika and £100k+ for Smith.

Aaaaargh! We never paid anywhere near £150,000 for Norris. Closer to £25,000.

Woolery isn't anything yet Gareth, he's barely played.  I'm not judging him - that'll come if/when he plays for us.

I'm judging the rumoured fee given his inexperience and the fan reaction to potentially missing out given the same.

I think the fans reaction is down to the fact we are short of 1/2 strikers and very few rumours so they are hoping we sign him, but as you said, we can't expect a lot but definitely has potential as he was pretty good in the play off final.

TBH, I'd expect a fair bit if we do pay £150-200k for him. That's big money for L2

Nice to read FGR fans are going through stages 3-6.

(News of potential signing)

Phase 1: [Player] 'coming home' - YEEEEEEESSS!!!
Phase 2: Been watching YouTube footage all day. He's immense.

(Goes quiet for a day or two)

Phase 3: These delays happen.
Phase 4: It would be nice if the club kept us updated. [insert #Announce hashtag when Tweeting]

(News emerges of interest elsewhere)

Phase 5: [Player] only has eyes for us, other other linked interested club can dream on.
Phase 6: Sneaky dealings elsewhere is making it difficult for [Player] to 'come home'.

(Looks like other club have won the race)

Phase 7: We can get two better players for that fee.
Phase 8: Didn't really rate him that much anyway.
Phase 9: He's shit. I've always said it. Always
Phase 10: What a Judas little prick [insert snake emoji if Tweeting]

It is a lot for L2.

Going by the FGR forum, he improved a lot in his time there. Including in front of goal. Hopefully hes worth it, if he signs.

I think part of the (some of our) fan reaction is a reluctance to accept FGR may be able to beat us to player signings (or not as it may turn out).

If you're a young player given the choice of FGR or Swindon, there really should be no question.

Power has certainly kept his word about keeping his nose out this season and backing the manager

Woolery signing tomorrow, apparently. For a fee no less!

Must be a wedge of the Flint sell on I'd guess.
