Should be forced to make up the time you all fucking squandered striking first!

Congrats Sam. ---------------
Rediscovering running.
Up to the end of school I used to love running. 800m was my favourite, best time was 2:19 which is good if not spectacular for a 15 year old. Long distance next favourite. Never had the speed for the middle distances. Then came car, beer and bad diet.
Anyhow ffwd 20 years and I weigh approx 50% more than back then. And so running 3 miles in 29 minutes is probably a good time for an asthmatic snail, but it gives me a warm glow of achievement.

I need to follow your lead. I used to love running. Even managed two marathons - New York in 2002 and London in 2007...but that was pretty much the last outing I had. Oldest little one arrived the following year and my life since then has been rather different. Wonderful in many ways, but a lot less time for the things that I used to enjoy. Running - and football - have taken the back seat for a few years. I'm hoping normal service will resume on both fronts quite soon!

I'd love to do a marathon. Though clearly that's some way (and several stone) off. I wouldn't care about time, just running it all to the finish.

Batch - make sure you get fitted for correct running shoes - Run Swindon up in old town is the best place I've found.

I did the Swindon Half Marathon last year. Fuck knows what possessed me to do it, just a spur of the moment thing. I was nearly dead at the end, but crossing the finish line is a great feeling. Fucking slow time, about 2 1/2 hours, but I raised £200 for charity Might give it another go one day.

Everyone I have ever seen out running (Unless they were kids) look as miserable as fuck.
Staying fit and healthy is unpatriotic anyway. We need more people dying at 65, not 'looking after themselves' and living into their 80's and 90's.
Won't someone think of the children?
