some of these suggestions scare me...

i think scolari's a good shout. hiddink hasn't really done much but did quite well with south korea in the last world cup.

The thing that gets me, is he'd probably leave after the world cup anyway, but now he's being dismissed after it with a large payoff... he's done well there!

Get him out now so we can prepare properly for the competition.

ditching sven and getting a new manager in now would be a ridiculous idea. A new manager would have 3(?) friendly matches before the main competition to decide a squad to suit his own style of play or vice-versa. Nowhere near enough preparation time for a new manager. Definately best he stays till after the world cup. Sure all this anti-sven feeling will change when we win the world cup Smiley , he hasn't actually done too bad of a job as manager.

Its true unfortunately and one of the reasons why Sven has stayed in the job so long.To my mind there really is no viable or obvious English candidate. But the Great English public, whipped up by the media will say they want an English man in charge :-))( Gus Hiddink would be my choice,he's done well in international football with teams that have half the skill of ours, but will he want the job with our fucking media constantly slagging him off? At least he might be less of a slut than Sven anyway Wink

Too true, our delightfully two faced media make the ob a poisened chalice IMHO.  Hiddink is good though, knows his footy good experience, no obvious bias to any club sides, and being dutch makes him something of an anglophile in my experience.
